BPS Marine PRO-8 24V 8-Transducer Ultrasonic Antifouling System

Bottom growth is one of those problems that never really goes away. You paint the hull, you dive it, you haul it, and a few months later the slime and barnacles are back, dragging your speed down and burning extra fuel. The BPS Marine PRO-8 takes a different route. It's an eight-transducer ultrasonic antifouling system that keeps growth from ever taking hold in the first place, and it does it without a drop of bottom paint or a single thru-hull.

Here's how it works. The eight transducers bond to the inside of your hull and send a multi-frequency ultrasonic sweep, running roughly 20 kHz to 42 kHz, out through the hull and into the thin layer of water against it. That sound energy does three things at once. It sets up tiny micro-currents right at the hull surface that stop biofilm from getting a grip. It creates controlled micro-bubbles that break down algae cells and spores before they can settle. And it scrambles the settlement behavior of barnacle and mussel larvae so they drift on and find somewhere else to live. No slime layer means nothing for the harder stuff to latch onto later.

The PRO-8 is built for bigger boats. Eight 60-watt transducers give you enough coverage for hulls up to 80 feet, and because you place them where you want, you're not just protecting the running surface. You can cover drives, rudders, and stabilizers too, the exact spots that are a pain to paint and a pain to clean. Each transducer comes with 15 feet of signal cable, and BPS throws in four extra 15-foot extension cables so you've got the reach to lay out a big engine room or a long hull without splicing. The whole network runs off the BPS-8 control module.

Installation stays inside the boat, which is the part people love. There are no holes to drill and nothing hanging in the water to snag or foul. The transducers mount directly to a clean, dry section of the hull interior with the two included epoxy kits, and the control module wires into your 24-volt house bank with a simple two-wire connection to the battery or distribution panel. Average draw is only about 2 amp-hours, so it sips power. Once it's in, it runs on its own, 24/7, even sitting at the dock. There's no schedule to keep and nothing to re-apply every couple of seasons.

So who's this really for? Owners who keep their boat in the water year-round and are tired of the haul-and-paint cycle. If you run a 50-foot twin-engine cruiser, the math gets interesting fast, since you're looking at saving on diver visits, bottom jobs, and the fuel you waste pushing a fouled hull.
