Battery Tender 12.5 ft DC Extension Cable, Black, Set of 4 — Product description

If your Battery Tender comes up a couple feet short, this set of four 12.5-foot DC extension cables closes the gap. Each one adds reach between the charger and your 12-volt battery, so you never have to move the charger or the battery to make the connection.

If you've ever gone to plug in a Battery Tender and come up a couple feet short, this is the fix. This is a set of four 12.5-foot DC extension cables from Battery Tender, built to add reach between your charger's output and the battery you're maintaining. No moving the charger. No relocating the battery. Just more cable.

Here's the situation we see all the time. The charger lives on the garage wall or bolted inside a boat's console locker, and the battery sits across the bilge or down under a seat. The lead that came with the tender gets you close, but not quite there. One of these extensions bridges that gap with room to spare. At 12.5 feet each, you've got plenty of slack to route the cable cleanly along a stringer, up a firewall, or around the edge of an engine bay instead of stretching it tight across a walkway.

The reason you get four in the box is simple. Most of us aren't maintaining just one battery. A boat, a couple of motorcycles, the lawn tractor, maybe a classic in the corner that only comes out on nice weekends. If you run a Battery Tender on each one, you can leave an extension permanently rigged to every battery and just walk the charger over, or run a bank charger and fan the extensions out to each machine. Buying them as a set of four costs less than picking them up one at a time, and you'll use them.

These plug straight into the quick-disconnect harness that Battery Tender uses across its lineup. That means the Battery Tender Junior, the Plus, and the 2, 4, 5, and 10-Bank units all accept this cable without any adapters. The connector snaps together, seats with a positive click, and pulls apart just as fast when you're ready to move the charger to the next battery. That quick-connect design is the whole point of the Battery Tender system, and this extension keeps it intact instead of forcing you to splice in bare wire.

One thing to get right before you order. This cable is for 12-volt Battery Tender chargers with the standard quick-disconnect plug. It is not for use with the 6-volt Battery Tender Plus, and it won't work with any Battery Tender product that uses the white quick-disconnect plugs. Those white-plug units run a different connector, and this lead won't mate with them. If your charger is a 12-volt unit with the usual connector, you're good. If you're not sure, check the plug on your existing charger harness before you buy.

Installation is about as simple as it gets. Leave the ring-terminal harness or the alligator clips that came with your Battery Tender attached to the battery the way you always have. Then connect this extension between that harness and the charger's DC output. The extra 12.5 feet lives in the middle, so the ends you actually handle stay the same as before. Route the slack neatly, zip-tie it clear of anything hot or moving, and you're done.

Out on the water this earns its keep fast. Marine batteries end up in awkward spots, buried under a rear casting deck or tucked into a lazarette where the factory charger lead never reaches. Run one of these from a shore-power charging point and the battery stays topped off all season without you crawling around to reposition the tender every time. Same story in the garage with a bike whose battery hides behind a side cover, or a tractor parked at the back of the shed.

The cable jacket is black, so it disappears against most engine bays, transoms, and shop walls instead of standing out. And because it's genuine Battery Tender gear, it's sized to carry the maintenance current these chargers put out without heating up or dropping voltage over the run.

Bottom line, if your charger and your battery just aren't in the same neighborhood, this set of four extensions closes the distance. It's the kind of small piece you don't think about until you need it, and then you're glad you've got four.

Key Features

  • 12.5 feet of added reach per cable, so a wall-mounted or locker-mounted charger still reaches a battery buried across the bilge or under a seat
  • Set of four cables, enough to leave one rigged on every boat, bike, or powersports battery and just walk the charger over
  • Quick-disconnect connector matches the harness on the Battery Tender Junior, Plus, 2, 4, 5, and 10-Bank units, so it plugs straight in with no adapters
  • Built for 12-volt Battery Tender chargers, the same tenders collectors, dealers, and fleet owners trust to keep batteries ready
  • Black jacket keeps the run low-key along a transom, in an engine bay, or across a shop wall
  • Not for the 6-volt Battery Tender Plus or any unit with white quick-disconnect plugs, so you always match the right lead to the right charger

Frequently asked questions

What does this cable actually do?

It adds length between your Battery Tender charger and the battery you're maintaining. Each cable is 12.5 feet, so you can leave the charger where it's mounted and still reach a battery that sits well out of range of the factory lead.

Which Battery Tender chargers is it compatible with?

It works with the Battery Tender Junior, Plus, and the 2, 4, 5, and 10-Bank units. All of those use the same quick-disconnect harness, so this extension plugs straight in.

Will it work with the 6-volt Battery Tender Plus?

No. This is for 12-volt Battery Tender chargers only. It is not for use with the 6-volt Battery Tender Plus.

My charger has white quick-disconnect plugs. Can I use this?

No. Battery Tender units with white quick-disconnect plugs use a different connector, and this cable won't mate with them. Check the plug on your existing harness before ordering. If it's the standard connector on a 12-volt unit, you're good.

How long is each cable?

Each extension is 12.5 feet long, which gives you plenty of slack to route it cleanly instead of stretching it tight.

How many cables come in the set?

Four. You get a set of four 12.5-foot extension cables, which is handy if you're maintaining more than one boat, bike, or vehicle.

How does it connect?

It uses the Battery Tender quick-disconnect connector. You leave the ring-terminal or alligator-clip harness on the battery, then plug this extension in between that harness and the charger's DC output. It snaps together and pulls apart by hand.

What color are the cables?

Black, so the run stays low-key against most engine bays, transoms, and shop walls.

Can I use it on a boat as well as in the garage?

Yes. Anywhere you run a compatible 12-volt Battery Tender, this extension gives you the reach. It's just as at home wiring a marine battery under a casting deck as it is on a motorcycle or tractor in the shop.
