The Scotty 169 1.5-inch Ball with Post Mount is the conversion adapter that bridges two parallel Scotty mounting standards: the older Scotty post-mount system (where accessories slide onto a post-and-pin connection on the boat-side mount) and the newer Scotty 1.5-inch ball-mount system (where accessories clamp onto a 1.5-inch ball using the Scotty ball-and-socket arm). For boats with multiple older post bases (typical workflow: a pair of post bases on the cockpit gunwales for rod holders, a post base aft for a downrigger, post bases at the bow for additional accessories), one 169 per base lets the entire set of bases accept modern Scotty ball-mount accessories.

UV-stabilized construction. The plastic components in the 169 are UV-stabilized for long marine service life - doesn't fade or get brittle under the typical sun exposure of a marine environment.
