ANDERSEN Below Deck Variable Speed Compact Motor Electric Conversion Kit - 12V f/50ST Winch Product Description

Below Deck Variable Speed Compact Motor Electric Conversion Kit - 12V for 50ST Winch

The uncompromising ANDERSEN Variable-speed Compact Motor™ is especially developed for use as a winch motor. It is available in two versions; Below Deck, with smaller, built-in dimensions than a standard motor and Above Deck, featuring the winch mounted directly on the motor for deck or mast installation. This motor is highly efficient, with an impressive line speed and first-rate maximum load. The unit is extremely easy to install and demonstrates why ANDERSEN Products are in a class of their own.

The motor is built on an entirely new commutator principle using no carbon brushes, resulting in the virtual elimination of wear and tear. This new approach to motors also provides other advantages; including 30-50% less power consumption compared to a conventional electric motor.

Electric conversion kits are delivered mounted to a stainless steel winch/deck connection plate and have everything you need for do-it-yourself mounting including installation manual, switches and cable terminals.

Important Information
Mounting of an Above Deck Compact Motor™ winch on a vertical surface is not recommended, as it increases exposure to potential problems of excessive moisture and water ingress which could lead to damage not covered by warranty. The motor/gearbox unit of any Above Deck Compact Motor™ Electric Winch is more exposed to the elements than a below deck installation which keeps the motor unit and gearbox more protected. It is important to take reasonable precautions to protect the unit from unnecessary exposure, and carry out regular seasonal maintenance including the lubrication of the motor shaft seal. This is just good seamanship. On commercial and military vessels, it is common to see exposed equipment with electric motors and gearboxes fitted with covers when not in use or to protect them from heavy spray, etc. Equipment on yachts deserves the same proper care.

** Before ordering, please contact us to ensure your Andersen Winch is compatible with this Conversion Kit. Refer to the Winch Product Version Number when inquiring or ordering powered Conversion Kits. The production year, month and version no. [YY-MM-VER.] are stamped on the top side of the deck flange, between the mounting bolt holes. You’ll find it, when the polished winch drum is removed. **

It has two versions. Below the Deck, it has a smaller built-in size than the standard motor. Above the Deck, it has a winch directly mounted on the motor, which can be used for deck or mast installation. The motor is highly efficient, has an impressive line speed and a top-notch maximum load. The unit is very easy to install and demonstrates why ANDERSEN products are similar products. The motor is based on a new commutator principle and does not use carbon brushes, thus almost eliminating wear. This new motor method has other advantages. Compared with the traditional electric motor, its energy consumption is reduced by 30-50%. Any motor/gearbox unit of the compact electric winch above the deck is exposed to the location of the components than those installed below the deck, so that the motor unit and the gearbox are better protected. It is important to take reasonable precautions to prevent unnecessary exposure of the equipment and to carry out regular seasonal maintenance, including lubricating the motor shaft seal. This is just good sailing skills. On commercial and military ships, exposed devices with covered motors and gearboxes are usually seen when they are not in use, or they should be protected from strong sprays. The equipment on the yacht should also receive the same proper care. When inquiring or ordering a power conversion kit, please refer to the winch product version number. Production year, month and version number. [YY-MM-VER. ] Is printed between the mounting bolt holes on the top side of the panel flange. After removing the polished winch drum, you will find it.
