Garmin Airmar R111LH 2kW In-Hull or Pocket Mounted Transducer, CHIRP Low (38-75kHz) & CHIRP High (130-210kHz) Product Description

Upgrade your marine sonar setup with the Garmin Airmar R111LH, a powerhouse 2kW transducer designed for serious boaters and offshore anglers who demand crystal-clear underwater imaging without compromising hull integrity. This versatile in-hull or pocket-mounted unit delivers dual-channel CHIRP technology—sweeping low frequencies from 38-75 kHz for deep-water penetration and high frequencies from 130-210 kHz for pinpoint target separation—making it ideal for spotting structure, bait balls, and trophy fish even in challenging conditions.

Exceptional Performance in Demanding Waters

Whether you're chasing billfish in deep blue water or mapping wrecks at speed, the R111LH shines with narrow beam widths of 10° x 19°, providing focused coverage that reveals fine details on your Garmin display. Its robust plastic housing withstands the rigors of saltwater exposure, while bare wire connections offer flexible integration with Garmin's GSD 26 sonar module or compatible black box systems. Boaters appreciate how it maintains performance up to planing speeds, eliminating the drag and vulnerability of transom-mounted alternatives.

Versatile Mounting Options for Any Hull

Adapt to your vessel's design with ease: the in-hull mount fits deadrise angles from 0° to 25°, embedding seamlessly into solid fiberglass hulls for a flush, low-profile installation. For pocket mounting on stepped or variable deadrise hulls, it offers even greater flexibility. Note that cored hulls aren't recommended for in-hull setups to prevent delamination risks—always pair with a compatible potting compound for optimal acoustic coupling and reliable temperature readings alongside depth data.

Why Serious Anglers Rely on Dual CHIRP Coverage

Traditional sonar falls short in cluttered waters, but the R111LH's spread-spectrum CHIRP excels by transmitting across wide frequency bands. Low CHIRP punches through thermoclines to scan depths up to 8,000 feet, perfect for canyon edges or continental shelves. High CHIRP then zooms in on individual fish returns, distinguishing species by size and behavior. Connect it to your Garmin marine network, and you'll enjoy seamless data sharing across multifunction displays, enhancing everything from trolling patterns to live-lining tactics.

Built to Last with Proven Reliability

Engineered by Airmar—a leader in transducer innovation—and optimized for Garmin compatibility, this unit features a generous 49-foot cable for straightforward routing. Its 2kW power rating ensures strong signal returns in noisy environments, while simple bare wire setup simplifies custom installs. Backed by Garmin's commitment to marine excellence, it delivers year after year of dependable service, helping you focus on the thrill of the catch rather than equipment worries.

Real-World Applications for Boaters

  • Offshore Fishing: Track pelagics like tuna and mahi-mahi with superior bottom discrimination.
  • Structure Scanning: Map reefs, ledges, and drop-offs with high-resolution imagery.
  • High-Speed Cruising: No foul weather interference or hull drag for all-day adventures.
  • Temperature Tracking: Monitor water columns to locate thermal breaks and upwellings.

What makes the Garmin Airmar R111LH suitable for deep-water fishing?

Its 2kW power and dual CHIRP bands (38-75 kHz low for depth up to 8,000 feet and 130-210 kHz high for detail) provide exceptional penetration and resolution, ideal for offshore pursuits like big game fishing.

Can this transducer be used on boats with deadrise angles?

Yes, the in-hull mount supports 0° to 25° deadrise angles, while pocket mounting adapts to various hull shapes for flexible installations.

Is the R111LH compatible with all Garmin chartplotters?

It integrates via the GSD 26 sonar module or newer Garmin black box sounders, feeding data to compatible marine network displays like GPSMAP and echoMAP series.

What's the difference between in-hull and pocket mounting?

In-hull mounts directly into the hull interior for flat or moderate deadrise; pocket mounting fits recessed pockets in the hull exterior, suiting complex designs.

Does it provide temperature sensing?

Absolutely, alongside depth and fish data, it relays accurate water temperature info to help identify productive zones.

How does CHIRP technology improve over traditional sonar?

CHIRP sweeps frequencies continuously for sharper images, better target separation, and reduced noise compared to single-frequency sonar.
