PHHBII is manually operated. Both the white household toilets PHII and PHEII are operated by double-acting piston pumps, which draw new flushing water while discharging waste water. By using raw water for flushing, the water on the ship can be reserved for basic fresh water use. The PHII pump has a unique, easy-to-replace sealed box. Simply turn the water inlet valve control knob a quarter turn to drain the bowl without using extra water. This provides the user with the option of emptying the bowl during heavy storms. Special exhaust holes can reduce back pressure. Electric PHEII can be operated by pressing a button, and should be equipped with a momentary or push button switch (PBS) and a continuous duty solenoid valve (CDS). In the event of a power failure, PHEII has a lever handle for temporary manual operation. Use the PHECKII conversion kit to easily convert manual PHII to electric operation.
