Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv 12in Chartplotter, No Transducer
Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv 12in Chartplotter, No Transducer — Product description
The Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv is the 12-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen chartplotter with the full Garmin Navionics+ chart package preloaded for US Inland and Coastal Canada. Multi-band GPS for sub-meter accuracy, full LiveScope live-scanning sonar compatibility (transducer sold separately), wireless networking between compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 and UHD2 units, and the ActiveCaptain app integration for trip planning and remote chart updates. Head unit only, no transducer included so you can pair it with your existing transducer or order the LiveScope-ready transducer separately.
The Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv (part 010-02882-00) is the 12-inch chartplotter and fishfinder head unit in the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 series, configured with the Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Inland and Coastal Canada chart card preloaded and no transducer in the box. The right SKU for boat owners who already have a working transducer (or who want to order the specific Garmin LiveScope or UHD scanning transducer that fits their fishing) and just need the bigger display upgrade. Same chartplotter and fishfinder capability as the bundled SKUs, lower cost because you're not paying twice for a transducer you don't need.
The 12.1-inch WXGA IPS display is the practical reason to step up from the smaller ECHOMAP Ultra 2 sizes. 1280 by 800 resolution on a 12-inch panel gives you genuinely usable split-screen real estate. Run chart plus traditional sonar plus DownVu plus SideVu in four panels at the same time and you can actually read each panel without squinting. Run a single full-screen chart and the chart text and detail are big and easy to read at any helm distance. The sunlight-readable IPS technology with high contrast and wide viewing angles means the screen reads clearly under direct sun on the open water (which is where chartplotters live).
Sunlight-readable touchscreen with keyed assist gives you the modern touch interface but doesn't lock you out when the screen is wet, salty, or covered with sunscreen-greasy fingerprints. The keyed assist buttons handle the operations that touch can't reliably do in marine conditions: zoom in and out, page navigation, marking waypoints, and the menu navigation that you don't want to be hunting through wet touch targets to find. Pinch-to-zoom, drag-to-pan, and tap-to-select work the way you expect on the chart, but the buttons are there as a backup that never fails.
Multi-band GPS is the upgrade over single-band GPS that you'll appreciate the first time you fish under a tree canopy or in an urban marina with multipath reflections. The receiver tracks GPS L1 and L5 bands plus other GNSS constellations (GLONASS, Galileo) and combines all of them for sub-meter positioning accuracy in environments where single-band GPS would struggle. For Spot-Lock-style trolling motor anchoring, autopilot precision, and tournament waypoint integrity, multi-band makes a measurable difference.
LiveScope live-scanning sonar compatibility is what separates this generation from the older ECHOMAP series. LiveScope is the real-time scanning sonar that shows fish swimming under and around the boat in genuinely live video-quality imagery (it's transformative once you've used it). The 126sv is fully LiveScope-ready, but the LiveScope transducer is sold separately. The most popular pairings are the LiveScope LVS34 and the LVS62 transducers, both of which plug directly into the 126sv's transducer port. If you already own a LiveScope transducer from an older Garmin display, it'll work on the 126sv with the appropriate adapter.
CHIRP traditional sonar and Ultra High-Definition (UHD) scanning sonar are also supported, with the right transducer. CHIRP gives you the traditional 2D fish-arch and bottom return imagery. UHD gives you ClearVu down-scanning and SideVu side-scanning at higher resolution than the older HD scanning sonars. For most pairings, the UHD2 transom or trolling motor transducer is the right balance of capability and cost.
The Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Inland and Coastal Canada chart card preloaded covers virtually all U.S. inland waters and the Canadian coastline. Vector charts with high-resolution depth shading, easy-routing for automatic safe-route generation, integrated tide and current overlays, and Auto Guidance for automatic destination routing. Upgrade to Navionics Vision+ Premium for high-resolution relief shading, satellite imagery overlay, and the full premium dataset. Both chart packages support over-the-air updates via the ActiveCaptain app and a paired smartphone, so you don't have to swap chart cards to get the latest data.
Wireless networking between compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 and UHD2 chartplotters is the ECHOMAP-line answer to needing more than one display on the boat without running an Ethernet backbone. Pair two units wirelessly (one-to-one connection) and they share sonar, waypoints, routes, and tracks between displays. Add a third or fourth unit and the same wireless mesh handles them. Important caveat: LiveScope sonar specifically can't be shared wirelessly between two ECHOMAP units. LiveScope is point-to-point on a single display because of the bandwidth required for live-scanning data. For most other shared content, the wireless mesh just works.
The ActiveCaptain app integration over Bluetooth and WiFi gives you a complete second-screen interface for the chartplotter on your phone or tablet. Plan trips at home and push waypoints and routes to the chartplotter without retyping. Receive incoming texts, calls, and notifications on the chartplotter screen if your phone is paired. Push software updates from the app to the chartplotter when new versions release. Download chart updates over your phone's data connection.
Screen recordings are the new feature in the Ultra 2 generation. Press a button and the chartplotter records what's on the screen as a video file to the SD card. Useful for reviewing the LiveScope footage of a fish-catching pass back at the dock, sharing fish catches with friends, and analyzing what went wrong on a frustrating day. The recordings also work for tournament documentation when needed.
What's in the box for this SKU: the 126sv head unit, the Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Inland and Coastal Canada preloaded chart, the bail mount and bail-mount hardware, the power and data cabling, the protective sun cover, and the install instructions. No transducer (that's the point of this SKU). Order the right transducer separately based on your sonar requirements.
Mounting. Bail mount included for surface-mount installation. The flush-mount kit is sold separately if you want a clean dash-flush install (most install pros recommend bail-mount for the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 series because the bail position can be tilted to eliminate sun glare during the day). The 12.1-inch chassis is sized for typical center console and sportboat helm dashes.
What this chartplotter isn't. It is not a thru-bottom transducer (this is the head unit only). It is not the GPSMAP series (which is the higher-end chartplotter line with full Ethernet networking, BlackBox sonar support, more processing power, and brighter displays). For most recreational and tournament inshore fishing, the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv is enough display. For full glass-bridge offshore builds with multiple networked displays, radar, and BlackBox sonar, the GPSMAP line is the right step up.

Frequently asked questions
Why does this SKU come without a transducer?
This is the head-unit-only configuration for boat owners who already have a compatible transducer or who want to order the specific Garmin LiveScope or UHD scanning transducer that fits their fishing. The bundled SKUs (with transducer included) cost more because you're paying for both the display and a specific transducer. If you don't need that specific transducer, the no-transducer SKU saves money. Common transducer pairings: LiveScope LVS34 or LVS62 for live-scanning sonar, GT56UHD-TM for transom-mount UHD scanning sonar.
What charts come preloaded?
Garmin Navionics+ U.S. Inland and Coastal Canada. Full vector chart coverage of virtually all U.S. inland lakes and rivers plus the Canadian coast. High-resolution depth shading, easy-routing, tide and current data, and Auto Guidance for automatic safe-path routing. Updates over the air via the ActiveCaptain app on your paired smartphone.
Will my old transducer work with it?
Most current Garmin transducers will work directly via the standard Garmin transducer port on the back of the unit. LiveScope transducers from the GLS 10 / Panoptix LiveScope generation work with the appropriate adapter. UHD2 generation transducers are direct plug-in. If you have an older 4-pin or 6-pin Garmin transducer, you may need an adapter cable. Check the Garmin transducer compatibility chart for your specific transducer model before assuming it'll plug in.
What's the difference between ECHOMAP Ultra 2 and GPSMAP?
GPSMAP is the higher-end Garmin chartplotter line with full Ethernet networking, support for BlackBox sonar units, more processing power, brighter displays (up to 2500 nits on some GPSMAP models), and the IPS+ display technology. The ECHOMAP Ultra 2 is the mid-tier line with WiFi networking instead of Ethernet, integrated sonar processing instead of BlackBox support, and a slightly less premium display. For most recreational and inshore tournament use, the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 is plenty. For full offshore glass-bridge installs, GPSMAP is the right line.
Can I run two of these on the same boat with shared sonar?
Yes. Wireless networking between compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 and UHD2 chartplotters lets you share sonar, waypoints, routes, and tracks between displays. Add a second 126sv (or other compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or UHD2 unit) and the wireless mesh just works. Important caveat: LiveScope sonar can't be shared wirelessly between two displays because of the bandwidth required for live-scanning data. LiveScope is point-to-point on a single display.
Does it work with autopilot?
Yes. The 126sv outputs NMEA 2000 navigation data including heading, speed, position, and waypoint information that any compatible NMEA 2000 marine autopilot can use. For Garmin autopilot integration specifically, the 126sv works with the Reactor 40 series and the GHC 50 instrument controller for full bidirectional control.
What's multi-band GPS and why does it matter?
Multi-band GPS receives positioning signals on multiple frequency bands (L1 and L5) plus signals from multiple satellite constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo). The result is sub-meter positioning accuracy and much better resistance to multipath reflections (the GPS errors caused by signals bouncing off buildings, trees, and structures before reaching the receiver). Single-band GPS receivers struggle in those environments. Multi-band tracks position accurately under tree canopy, in marinas surrounded by tall structures, and other challenging environments.
Does it support radar?
The ECHOMAP Ultra 2 series supports Garmin Fantom and xHD2 radar via NMEA 2000 connection. For full radar overlay on the chart with target tracking, you'll need the appropriate radar dome and the network configuration. For boats running offshore in fog or after dark, the GPSMAP line typically gives a more capable radar integration. The 126sv handles basic radar overlay competently.
How big is the screen really?
The 12.1-inch diagonal screen on the WXGA 1280 x 800 panel gives you about 10.3 inches wide by 6.4 inches tall of usable display area. That's enough room to run a four-panel split-screen (chart plus traditional sonar plus DownVu plus SideVu) and still read each panel from a normal helm distance. Single full-screen chart presentation gives you very large chart text and clear waypoint icons.
Does it have built-in WiFi and Bluetooth?
Yes. WiFi handles wireless networking between compatible ECHOMAP units and software updates via your home or boat WiFi network. Bluetooth handles ActiveCaptain app integration with your phone. Both are built in, no additional dongle or interface required.
What about the warranty?
Standard 2-Year limited Garmin warranty on parts and workmanship. Service runs through the Garmin authorized dealer network in the U.S.
