Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 24/36V 45" w/ Dual Spectrum CHIRP — Product description

The Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 (part 1368900) is the dual-voltage brushless flagship in the QUEST series: 90 pounds of thrust on 24 volts or 115 pounds on 36 volts, the same motor running either voltage by changing the battery wiring. 45-inch composite shaft, scissor-lock bow mount with Lift-Assist, cable-steer foot pedal with electric power-steering assist, programmable foot pedal button, the new Micro wireless remote, built-in Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar (Universal Sonar 2 concealed wiring), Spot-Lock with Jog, AutoPilot, Drift Mode for auto speed-and-heading hold, real-time battery monitoring with time-until-empty display, Eco mode for extended runtime, MKP-40 Power Prop, mobile app, and the indestructible composite shaft guaranteed for life. The trolling motor for tournament rigs that demand the most capable trolling motor available.

The Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 with Dual Spectrum CHIRP and Micro Remote (part 1368900) is the top-of-the-Ultrex-line trolling motor in Minn Kota's QUEST series of brushless, dual-voltage, dual-thrust trolling motors. 90 pounds of thrust at 24 volts and 115 pounds at 36 volts (the same motor running either voltage selectable by how you wire the batteries), a 45-inch composite shaft, the new scissor-lock bow mount with Lift-Assist, cable-steer foot pedal with electric power-steering assist, the Micro wireless remote, built-in Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar in the motor head, full One-Boat Network GPS feature suite (Spot-Lock with Jog, AutoPilot, Drift Mode, recorded paths), and the brushless drive motor that delivers both higher peak efficiency and quieter underwater operation than the brushed motors in the previous Ultrex generation.

What QUEST series brings. QUEST is Minn Kota's complete redesign of the Ultrex platform. New brushless drive motor (more efficient, quieter, lighter, and longer service life than the previous brushed motors). Dual-voltage capability built in (the same motor handles both 24V and 36V wiring without changing the motor itself, just the battery configuration). Re-engineered scissor-lock bow mount (more durable, easier deploy / stow with the new Lift-Assist). Programmable foot pedal (one of the foot pedal buttons can be programmed to your most-used function: mark waypoint, engage AutoPilot, deploy or retract Talon shallow water anchors). Real-time battery monitoring (time-until-empty display so you know exactly how much fishing time is left). Eco mode (reduces current draw to extend battery life when you want to fish longer at the cost of slightly lower speed). For owners upgrading from a previous-generation Ultrex, the QUEST is a meaningful step forward.

Dual voltage: 24V or 36V. The QUEST 90/115 is the dual-voltage variant: wire it to 24 volts (two 12V batteries in series) for 90 lb of thrust, or wire it to 36 volts (three 12V batteries in series) for 115 lb of thrust. The same motor, the same shaft, the same prop, the same foot pedal - just different battery wiring. For boats already wired for 24V, you get 90 lb of strong thrust without changing batteries. For boats wired for 36V, you get the full 115 lb of maximum thrust. For boats getting rigged from scratch, choose the voltage that matches the rest of your fishing setup. The dual capability also means you can upgrade from 24V to 36V later (add a third battery, change the wiring) without buying a new trolling motor.

Brushless motor. The brushless DC motor in the QUEST is significantly more efficient than the brushed motor in the previous Ultrex generation, especially at low speeds where the older brushed motors waste a lot of power as motor heat. Brushless motors also run quieter (no commutator brushes wearing on the rotor) and have much longer service life (the brushes were the typical wear item on brushed trolling motors). Combined with Digital Maximizer microprocessor speed control, you'll see the brushless QUEST delivers the longest run time per battery charge of any trolling motor Minn Kota has ever shipped.

Drift Mode. Drift Mode is new in the QUEST and it's one of the most useful new fishing features. Engage Drift Mode and the motor automatically maintains both speed (your chosen drift speed across the water) AND course (your chosen heading) simultaneously, regardless of wind and current. You don't need drift socks, kicker motors, or constant manual foot-pedal steering to maintain a controlled drift. Set the drift speed at 0.5 mph and the boat tracks straight at 0.5 mph against any wind direction. The right capability for walleye, salmon, and any species pattern that depends on a controlled-speed drift presentation.

Spot-Lock with Jog and AutoPilot. Spot-Lock anchors the boat on a GPS waypoint (the trolling motor automatically thrusts and steers to hold position against wind and current). Jog (enabled by the included heading sensor) lets you bump the locked spot 5 feet in any direction without releasing Spot-Lock. AutoPilot maintains a chosen heading regardless of wind side-load. The standard Minn Kota GPS feature suite, all included.

One-Boat Network with built-in Dual Spectrum CHIRP. The QUEST 90/115 has Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar built directly into the motor head with Universal Sonar 2 concealed wiring (the transducer cable runs entirely inside the trolling motor's shaft). Connect the included HELIX adapter cable to a compatible fish finder and you get OEM-integrated Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar without a separate transducer purchase. The One-Boat Network also enables cross-device control: drop Spot-Lock from the fish finder display, send the trolling motor to a fishing waypoint set on the chartplotter, see trolling motor status on the fish finder. The integration is Minn Kota's strongest GPS / sonar feature set.

Programmable foot pedal with power steering. The cable-steer foot pedal has electric power-steering assist (you get the cable feel of older Minn Kotas combined with the light steering effort of electric-steer motors) plus a user-programmable button that you can assign to your most-used function. Common assignments: mark a waypoint with one tap, engage AutoPilot, deploy or retract Talon shallow water anchors. The programmable button puts your most-used feature one tap away without reaching for the remote.

Micro wireless remote. The Micro Remote is the new compact wireless remote in the QUEST line: smaller than the previous full-size remote, easier to keep on your person while fishing, with the lanyard for wearing it around your neck. Handles the full feature set: speed, steering, Spot-Lock, AutoPilot, Drift Mode engagement.

Real-time battery monitoring. The QUEST tracks battery voltage and discharge rate in real time and displays the time-until-empty estimate on the foot pedal display and on the mobile app. When the battery hits 20% remaining, the display alerts you and prompts entering Eco mode to extend remaining run time. No more guessing whether you've got another hour of fishing or you're heading back to the launch.

Eco mode. Eco mode reduces the trolling motor's current draw at any given speed setting, extending the remaining battery run time by a meaningful amount at the cost of slightly lower top speed and slightly slower position-hold response. Useful for end-of-day when you've burned through more battery than expected and want to get back to the launch without running out.

Digital Maximizer for 5x run time. Even without Eco mode, it's the standard Digital Maximizer controller that delivers exactly the motor power needed for the speed setting you've dialed in. Combined with the brushless motor's higher base efficiency, the QUEST runs significantly longer per battery charge than older Ultrex generations.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between QUEST and standard Ultrex?

QUEST is Minn Kota's complete redesign of the Ultrex platform. Brushless motor (vs. brushed in older Ultrex), dual-voltage capability (24V or 36V from the same motor, vs. fixed-voltage older units), re-engineered scissor-lock mount with new Lift-Assist, programmable foot pedal button, the new Micro wireless remote, real-time battery monitoring with time-until-empty display, Eco mode, and Drift Mode. For owners upgrading from a previous Ultrex, the QUEST is a meaningful step forward.

Why dual voltage 24V or 36V?

The QUEST 90/115 is the same motor running either voltage selectable by battery wiring. Wire to 24V (two 12V batteries in series) for 90 lb of thrust. Wire to 36V (three 12V batteries in series) for 115 lb of thrust. For boats already wired 24V, you get strong 90 lb thrust without changing batteries. For boats wired 36V, you get the maximum 115 lb. The dual capability lets you upgrade from 24V to 36V later by adding a third battery and rewiring, without buying a new trolling motor.

What's Drift Mode?

Drift Mode automatically maintains both speed and course simultaneously. Set a drift speed (say, 0.5 mph) and a heading, engage Drift Mode, and the trolling motor maintains that speed across the water and that heading regardless of wind and current. Anglers no longer need drift socks, kicker motors, or constant manual foot-pedal steering to maintain a controlled drift presentation. Especially useful for walleye, salmon, and any species pattern that depends on a precise drift speed.

How is the brushless motor different?

Significantly more efficient, especially at low speeds where older brushed motors wasted a lot of power as motor heat. Brushless motors also run quieter (no commutator brushes wearing on the rotor) and have much longer service life (the brushes were the typical wear item on brushed trolling motors). Combined with Digital Maximizer speed control, the QUEST delivers the longest run time per battery charge of any trolling motor Minn Kota has ever shipped.

What's real-time battery monitoring?

The QUEST tracks battery voltage and discharge rate in real time and displays an estimated time-until-empty on the foot pedal display and the mobile app. When battery hits 20% remaining, the display alerts you and prompts entering Eco mode. No more guessing whether you can fish another hour or need to head back. The most-asked-for feature in years of Minn Kota owner feedback.

How does Eco mode work?

Eco mode reduces the trolling motor's current draw at any given speed setting, extending remaining run time at the cost of slightly lower top speed and slightly slower position-hold response. Useful at end-of-day when you've burned through more battery than expected and want to make it back to the launch. Engage Eco mode from the foot pedal display, the Micro Remote, or the mobile app.

Does it have built-in sonar?

Yes - Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar is built directly into the motor head with Universal Sonar 2 concealed wiring (the transducer cable runs inside the trolling motor's shaft). Connect the included HELIX adapter cable to a compatible fish finder and you get OEM-integrated Dual Spectrum CHIRP without a separate transducer purchase. For boats running compatible fish finders, the integration is plug-and-play.

What batteries do I need?

For 24V operation: two 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series. For 36V operation: three 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series. Group 31 deep-cycle AGM (typical 100-110 Ah each) is the cost-effective long-life option. 12V LiFePO4 lithium gives more usable amp-hours per pound and faster recharge but costs more. Don't use starting batteries.

How long does it run on a charge?

With the brushless motor's higher base efficiency plus Digital Maximizer speed control, the QUEST runs significantly longer per charge than older Ultrex generations. Typical fishing-day at speed settings 3-5 with three Group 31 deep-cycle AGM batteries: 10-14 hours of mixed running on 36V. Eco mode adds another 20-30% run time when needed. The exact numbers vary with conditions but the QUEST is the longest-running Minn Kota Ultrex Minn Kota has ever shipped.

Will it fit my boat?

Bow-mount, scissor-lock mount installation. Standard Minn Kota bow-mount footprint. The 45-inch shaft works for boats with about 10-14 inches from the bow deck to the water surface. For higher-bow boats, the longer-shaft variants of the QUEST are available. For bass boats and walleye boats with the typical low-bow configuration, the 45-inch is the right shaft length.

Is it saltwater rated?

No. The QUEST Ultrex is the freshwater Minn Kota line. For saltwater, the Riptide QUEST is the same motor with saltwater-grade construction. Don't use the freshwater QUEST in saltwater - the corrosion will quickly destroy the motor and the warranty doesn't cover saltwater damage.

What's the warranty?

3-year limited motor warranty plus lifetime warranty on the indestructible composite shaft. The shaft warranty covers bend / break failures of the composite shaft for the life of the motor at no cost. Service runs through the Minn Kota authorized dealer network in the U.S.
