The SIONYX Aurora PRO Night Vision Camera (model C011300) is the flagship full-color digital night vision camera in the Aurora line. Designed for law enforcement, military, marine night operations, security professionals, and serious outdoor users who need the best low-light color imaging available in a compact handheld camera. Full-color daytime and night vision (not the green-tinted monochrome of older night vision tubes), moonless starlight low-light performance, built-in GPS / compass / accelerometer for geo-tagged recordings, WiFi streaming to a smart device via the SIONYX app, IP67 water resistance, weapons-rated for mounting on firearms, and the hardshell waterproof case for field protection.

What makes the Aurora PRO different from older night vision. Two big things. First, it produces full-color images instead of the green-tinted monochrome that traditional image-intensifier night vision tubes deliver. Color is much more useful for identification: you can see whether a vehicle is red or blue, whether someone is wearing a particular color of clothing, whether a marine navigation light is the correct color for a given vessel category. Second, it's a digital camera, which means it records video and stills directly to a microSD card, streams via WiFi to your phone or tablet, and can be reviewed later as standard digital media. Older image-intensifier night vision is view-only.

The PRO model is the highest-end of the Aurora line. New sensor technology and enhanced optics deliver better low-light performance than the standard Aurora and Aurora Sport models, particularly in extremely dark moonless conditions where the older models start to lose color fidelity. For users who specifically need to operate in the darkest conditions (no moon, no ambient city light, deep wilderness or open ocean), the PRO is the right model. For lighter low-light use (twilight, urban or suburban night with ambient light, light moonlight), the standard Aurora is more cost-effective.

Moonless starlight performance is the headline capability. Most older digital low-light cameras need at least some ambient light (moonlight, distant city glow, vehicle headlights in the distance) to produce useful images. The Aurora PRO produces usable color imagery under starlight alone, which is the darkest naturally-occurring outdoor lighting condition. For maritime users approaching unlit shores at night, for security users monitoring rural perimeters, for hunters in the deep woods, the PRO sees what the eye and competing cameras can't.

Full-color digital sensor with the proprietary SIONYX low-light technology that distinguishes this camera. Compared to standard CMOS sensors that lose color fidelity in low light and revert to monochrome, the SIONYX sensor maintains color throughout the low-light range down to the moonless starlight floor. The processing pipeline that converts raw sensor data to viewable color images runs in real time, so the camera's display shows full-color imagery as you point and shoot.

Built-in GPS, compass, and accelerometer give every recording a complete geospatial fingerprint. GPS captures the latitude and longitude where the recording was made. Compass captures the camera bearing (which direction the camera was pointed). Accelerometer captures the camera tilt and orientation. For evidence gathering, surveillance work, and post-mission review, this geo-tagged metadata makes recordings useful for legal and operational purposes that bare-video lacks. WiFi enabled. Pair the camera with a smartphone or tablet running the SIONYX app, and you can wirelessly stream live video from the camera to the connected device. Useful for two-person operations where one person operates the camera and another monitors from a remote position, for surveillance setups where the camera is mounted in a fixed position and the operator monitors from a vehicle, and for sharing live footage with command and control during operations.

Weapons-rated for mounting on firearms. The camera is built to handle the recoil shock of mounting on a rifle, shotgun, or similar weapon platform. The mounting points are designed for standard weapons rail systems. For tactical applications where the camera is mounted in line with a weapon optic for combined day-and-night observation, the PRO handles the install. For non-weapons applications (handheld, helmet mount, vehicle mount, marine pilothouse mount), the same weapons-rated construction means the camera survives marine vibration, off-road vehicle bumps, and other rough handling.

IP67 water resistance means the camera handles direct rain, splash, washdown, and brief immersion without damage. 256 GB internal storage capacity is enough for hours of high-resolution video recording. The included 32 GB microSD card provides additional removable storage if you want to swap cards between sessions or if you need to hand off video evidence to someone else without surrendering the camera. The microSD slot accepts cards up to standard MicroSD/SDXC capacity limits.

Two camera batteries in the box gives you swap capability for extended operations. Each battery delivers a few hours of continuous recording (specific runtime varies by recording resolution, screen brightness, WiFi activity). Hot-swap a depleted battery for a fresh one and the camera is back in operation in under a minute. Charging is via the included USB charge/data cable, which works with any standard USB power source.

SIONYX app on your smartphone or tablet handles live streaming, video review, recording management, and camera configuration. Available for iOS and Android. What this camera isn't. It is not a thermal camera (thermal cameras detect heat rather than light, see through smoke and fog, and don't need ambient light at all but produce monochrome heat-map imagery rather than color). For thermal imaging, look at dedicated thermal camera products. The SIONYX Aurora is digital low-light color, which is a different category. It is also not the standard Aurora or Aurora Sport (those are the lower-cost siblings with less low-light capability).
