Dometic Fan-Tastic FA25 RV Roof Vent Fan, 14x14 Manual — Product description

The Dometic Fan-Tastic FA25 is a 14 x 14 inch RV roof vent with a 5-speed reversible fan and a manual dome lift. Pull fresh air in or push hot, stale air out, wire it to solar through the dual integrated ports, and drop it straight into a standard roof cutout.

The Dometic Fan-Tastic FA25 is the roof vent that actually earns its keep on a long weekend. It's a 14 by 14 inch unit with a 5-speed reversible fan, and that reversible part is the whole point. Flip it to exhaust and it drags hot air, cooking smells, and shower steam up and out. Flip it to intake and it pulls cool evening air down into the cabin. On a still summer night parked at a campground with no hookups, that airflow is the difference between sleeping and not.

This is the manual-lift version of the FA25, model FA25MBUWD81S. You raise and lower the dome by hand with the dual lift arms, no wall switch and no lift motor sitting up there waiting to fail. If you like keeping things simple and you don't mind reaching up to crank the dome open, the manual model is the honest choice. Fewer parts, less to troubleshoot down the road.

The base is Dometic's black DryDock design, and it's built to shed water. That means you can leave the vent cracked open during a light passing shower and keep the air moving without soaking the floor. We'd still close it up before a real storm or before you pull out on the highway, but for everyday drizzle it does the job. The dome itself is high-density, UV-stable polyethylene, so it stands up to sun and weather instead of going brittle after a couple of seasons in the driveway.

Where the FA25 really pulls ahead is the dual integrated solar ports. They let you wire the fan straight to a solar panel so it keeps running off the sun instead of pulling from your house battery. If you dry camp or boondock, that's a big deal. You can leave the fan turning all afternoon to keep the rig from turning into an oven, and come back to a battery bank that's exactly where you left it.

Fitment is easy because 14 by 14 inches is the standard RV roof vent cutout. If you're pulling out a tired old vent or a builder-grade unit that never moved much air, the FA25 drops into the same hole in most travel trailers, fifth wheels, truck campers, and van conversions. Installation hardware comes in the box, so you've got the screws and pieces to mount it and seal it down. Butyl tape and a bead of self-leveling sealant on the roof are on you, and they're worth doing right the first time. A roof vent is only as good as its seal, and a lazy install is how you end up chasing a soft spot in the ceiling two years later.

Inside, the dome is white and the interior trim is white, so it blends into most RV ceilings instead of staring down at you. The magnetic screen assembly keeps the bugs out on those open-window nights, and because it's magnetic it pops off clean when it's time to knock the dust and pollen out of it. Little thing, but you'll appreciate it come spring.

Who's this for? Anybody who wants strong, reversible airflow and the freedom to run it on solar without babying the battery. It's a great upgrade over a plain non-powered roof vent, and it's a smart replacement when your old fan starts groaning. It's not the powered-lift, thermostat-controlled model, so if you specifically want a rain sensor that closes the dome for you or a wall control panel, that's a different unit in the family. But for a straightforward, well-built vent fan that moves serious air and plays nice with solar, the FA25 is hard to beat. Add in that it's a genuine Dometic Fan-Tastic Vent and you're getting a design that's been proven on the road for years.

Frequently asked questions

What size roof opening does the FA25 fit?

It's built for the standard 14 by 14 inch RV roof vent cutout, so in most trailers, fifth wheels, campers, and van builds it drops right into the existing hole.

Is the fan reversible?

Yes. The 5-speed fan runs both ways. Set it to exhaust to pull hot air, steam, and cooking smells out, or set it to intake to pull cool outside air in.

Does the dome open with a motor or by hand?

This is the manual model, FA25MBUWD81S. You raise and lower the dome by hand using the dual lift arms. There's no lift motor or wall switch, which means fewer parts to fail.

Can I run it on solar?

Yes. It has dual integrated solar ports, so you can wire the fan to a solar panel and keep it running off the sun instead of drawing down your house battery. Great for dry camping and boondocking.

Does it come with a bug screen?

It includes a magnetic screen assembly. It keeps insects out on open-window nights and pops off cleanly when you want to wash it.

Can I leave it open in the rain?

The black DryDock base is designed to shed water, so a light passing shower with the dome cracked open is fine. Close it up before a heavy storm or before you drive.

What's the dome made of?

High-density, UV-stable polyethylene. It's made to hold up to sun and weather without going brittle or yellowing quickly.

Is installation hardware included?

Yes, the mounting hardware comes in the box. Plan to add butyl tape and self-leveling roof sealant for a watertight install, since those aren't included and a good seal is what keeps the roof dry.

What colors is it?

The dome and interior trim are white and the DryDock mounting base is black, a combination that blends into most RV roofs and ceilings.

Will it replace my old 14x14 vent fan?

In most cases yes. Because it uses the standard 14 by 14 inch cutout, the FA25 is a common upgrade or replacement for a worn-out or non-powered roof vent.
