Dometic Blizzard NXT Air Conditioner Replacement Shroud, Black

If your Blizzard NXT still cools fine but the cover up top is cracked, chalky, or blown apart from years in the sun, this is the fix. It's the genuine Dometic replacement shroud for the Blizzard NXT rooftop air conditioner, in black. The shroud is the molded outer cover that sits over the works of your AC. It doesn't touch the cooling side at all. Its whole job is to protect the compressor, fan, and coils underneath from sun, rain, and road grime, and to keep the top of your rig looking clean.

Shrouds take a beating. They sit up on the roof in full sun every day, and the UV slowly does its thing. First the surface goes dull. Then it chalks. Eventually you get hairline cracks, and on an older cover one good highway gust or a low branch can crack a corner clean off. Once that happens, water and debris start getting at the parts you actually paid for. Replacing the shroud is a cheap afternoon job that heads all of that off.

This one is weather and UV resistant, so it's built to hold its shape and color through the seasons instead of going brittle. And it mounts using the same holes as the original, which is the part most folks worry about. You're not drilling anything new into the roof. Pull the old cover, set the new one down over the unit, line it up with the existing mounting points, and button it back up. If you've got a socket set and a ladder, you can knock it out in well under an hour.

One thing to get right before you order: this shroud is made for the Blizzard NXT specifically. Dometic's other rooftop lines, like the Brisk II and the Penguin, use their own shroud shapes, and they don't cross over. So check the model tag on your unit or in your owner's manual first. If it says Blizzard NXT, this is your part. If you're running a different Dometic AC, we can point you to the right shroud instead.

Why black? Two reasons, usually. Either your rig came with a black cover and you want to match, or you just prefer the low-profile look over bright white. Black hides road film and bug splatter better between washes, which is a nice bonus on a unit you rarely climb up to clean. Keep in mind a dark shroud will soak up a bit more heat sitting in direct sun than a white one, but it's a cover over the outside of the unit, so it won't change how well your AC actually cools the coach.

A quick tip while you've got the ladder out: give the roof around the AC a look too. Reseal any spots where the old cover's cracking let water sit, and check that the gasket between the unit and the roof is still soft and sealing. A new shroud on top of a tired roof seal is only half the job. Handle both at once and you'll get years out of the repair.
