Camco 39002 Rhino 21-Gallon Portable RV Waste Tote Tank

When your campsite has water and power but no sewer hookup, you've got two choices. Break camp and drive the whole rig to the dump station, or roll your waste over there and stay put. The Camco 39002 Rhino is built for the second option. It's a 21-gallon portable tote tank that connects to your RV's sewer outlet, fills up, and then wheels or tows to the dump station so you never have to hitch up mid-trip.

The tank body is blow-molded high-density polyethylene, so it's one solid piece with no seams to split. Camco sized this one at 21 gallons, which is the sweet spot for a lot of travel trailers and smaller fifth wheels. That's usually a few days of black and gray water for a couple, or a long weekend for a family that's careful with the tanks. If you're a full-time liveaboard crew running showers and dishes hard, you'll empty it more often, and that's just the reality of any tote this size.

Two things make the 39002 easy to move when it's loaded. First, the no-flat wheels. They never need air, they don't rot in the sun, and you're not chasing down a slow leak the night before you leave. Second, the oversized handle. It gives you real control to steer 21 gallons of dead weight across gravel or grass without fighting it. When the walk is long or the tank is full, snap on the included steel tow adapter and pull the tote slowly behind your tow vehicle or golf cart at walking speed. This is a creep-along tool, not a highway hookup, so keep it slow and keep it on the campground road.

Camco doesn't make you buy the accessories separately either. The 39002 ships as a complete kit. You get a 3-foot Rhino Extreme sewer hose with bayonet and lug fittings to connect the tank to your RV, a 15-inch female-to-female hose with EZ Grip connections, and two clear elbows so you can actually see when the flow stops. One elbow has a swivel bayonet and a 4-in-1 adapter for dump-station threads, the other has a double swivel bayonet. There's a male garden hose connection on the tank for rinsing and draining, an EZ Grip female inlet for filling, storage caps on lanyards so you don't lose them in the dirt, a steel tow adapter, and three drop-in toilet treatment tabs to get you started.

The EZ Grip connections are the part worth slowing down on. They hand-tighten by design, so you don't need a wrench, but you do need to seat them square and snug. A quick tug test before you open the RV valve saves you from the mess nobody wants. If you're chasing a weep at the inlet, a wrap of thread tape on the threads usually settles it down for good.

Emptying is straightforward. Roll or tow the loaded tote to the dump station, connect the clear elbow with the 4-in-1 adapter to the station fitting, open the tank valve, and let gravity do the work. When it's drained, back-flush through the garden hose connection until the water runs clean, cap everything with the lanyard caps, and you're done. Rinse the wheels and hose ends too. The no-flat wheels collect grit and grime over a season, so a quick spray keeps them rolling smooth.

A couple of honest notes. The included 3-foot sewer hose is on the short side for some dump stations, so if yours sits low or far back, a longer extension hose is a cheap add. And like any tote, this one wants to stay upright and balanced. Don't drop it off a curb or a trailer tailgate when it's loaded. Ease it down and it'll give you years of dump-station trips.

For weekenders, snowbirds, and anyone parked at a no-sewer site, the Camco 39002 turns the worst chore of RV life into a ten-minute job you can do without moving your rig an inch. That's the whole point.
