Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 RVX MFD - RealVision 3D + 1kW CHIRP — Product description

The Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 RVX is the all-in-one 12.1-inch multifunction display for serious helms. Built-in RealVision 3D, 1kW CHIRP sonar, HybridTouch control, a quad-core processor, the LightHouse 3 OS, and Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada chart card preloaded. Network-ready for additional Axiom displays, radar, FLIR thermal cameras, and Evolution autopilot.

The Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 RVX is the multifunction display we recommend for the boater building a serious helm without going to a full glass-bridge install. It's a 12.1-inch IPS panel with optical bonding, a quad-core processor running the LightHouse 3 OS, and built-in 1kW CHIRP sonar plus RealVision 3D. The RVX in the model name means the sonar engines are inside the unit, so you don't need an external sonar module to run the included transducer technology.

The 12.1-inch screen is the right size for most center consoles, walk-arounds, and convertibles where a 9-inch feels small at the helm but a 16-inch eats too much dash. The IPS panel with optical bonding gives you accurate color and high contrast at any viewing angle, and the screen reads cleanly through polarized sunglasses, which is the failure mode of cheaper non-bonded displays. Resolution is 1280 by 800. Touchscreen is multi-touch.

HybridTouch is the Raymarine control philosophy that sets the Axiom Pro apart from the standard Axiom. You get the touchscreen, plus a row of dedicated hard buttons across the bottom, plus a rotary knob for fine adjustments. In a pitching offshore boat or with wet gloves, the buttons and knob are far more reliable than touch. In calm water at the dock, the touchscreen is faster for chart panning and waypoint marking. You pick whichever works for the conditions instead of being forced into one input mode.

RealVision 3D sonar is the headline imaging feature. It builds a real three-dimensional view of the bottom and what's on it, with structure, fish, and bait shown in the actual spatial relationships you'd see if you could look down through the water. Combined with a compatible RealVision transducer (sold separately), the Axiom Pro 12 RVX gives you imagery that flat 2D sonar simply can't match for understanding bottom layout. The 1kW CHIRP sonar engine handles deep-water work and the kind of high-power, wide-frequency-range pinging that pulls fish out of murky bottom returns.

The Quad Core processor is the reason the unit feels fluid. Multiple split-screen views, chart panning, sonar imagery, radar overlay, and AIS targets all running at once with no lag. LightHouse 3 OS is a clean, modern interface that respects how boaters actually use a chartplotter, and Raymarine pushes regular software updates over WiFi so the unit gets new features over its life instead of stagnating after launch.

Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada chart card ships preloaded. That covers the U.S. inland and coastal markets plus Canada's east coast and Pacific coast with high-resolution chart data, including SonarChart bathymetry, Community Edits, and the kind of detail that lets you actually navigate unfamiliar waters with confidence. You can swap in different cartography on either of the two microSDXC card slots if you fish elsewhere or want a different chart product.

Networking. This is where the Axiom Pro line earns its money. Two RayNet Ethernet ports for high-speed networking with additional Axiom displays, radomes, sonar modules, FLIR thermal cameras, and IP cameras. NMEA 2000 for engine, autopilot, and vessel data. Two NMEA 0183 inputs and one output for older devices. WiFi for software updates, mobile app pairing, and chart downloads. The unit drives Raymarine's Cyclone and Quantum solid-state radars natively, and pairs with the Evolution autopilot for hands-free heading and route control.

For situational awareness, the Axiom Pro 12 RVX integrates with up to 10 IP cameras, plus one analog camera input on the back of the unit. ClearCruise IR object detection from FLIR thermal cameras is a notable feature for night running, automatically alerting you to hazards in the boat's path. AIS integration is built in (transponder sold separately).

Power. 12V or 24V DC with broad acceptance across that range. Power and NMEA 0183 share a single multi-function cable. The unit is rated IPX6 / IPX7 for full marine helm use, with an operating temperature range from -25C to +55C (13F to 131F). 16GB internal storage handles waypoints, routes, and the operating system, and the dual microSDXC slots let you keep cartography on one card and screenshot or sonar log archives on the other.

Mounting. The unit ships with both surface mount and trunnion (gimbal) mount kits, plus the install hardware and a sun cover. Surface mount gives you a clean dash flush install. Trunnion mount lets you swivel the unit and pull it off the boat between trips. The unit measures 14.1 inches wide by 9.17 inches tall by 2.56 inches deep behind the bezel. Compass safe distance is short enough that the Axiom Pro lives easily in a typical helm electronics package.

What's in the box. The Axiom Pro 12 RVX display, the surface mount kit, the trunnion mount kit, the sun cover, the power and NMEA 0183 cable, a micro-C DeviceNet (F) to STNG (F) 1-meter cable for NMEA 2000 backbone connection, a RayNet to RayNet 2-meter Ethernet cable, the install instructions, and the Navionics+ USA / Coastal Canada chart card preloaded.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Axiom and Axiom Pro?

Axiom Pro adds the HybridTouch control system (touchscreen plus dedicated hard buttons and a rotary knob), the higher-resolution IPS panel with optical bonding, and on the Pro RVX models the built-in 1kW CHIRP and RealVision 3D sonar engines. Standard Axiom is touchscreen-only and depending on the model relies on an external sonar module for high-power CHIRP work. For an offshore or rough-water helm, the Pro is the call. For a sheltered-water boat that mostly fishes from a casting deck, the standard Axiom can be enough.

Do I need an external transducer?

Yes. The unit has the sonar engines built in, but you need a compatible transducer to actually generate the sonar imagery. For RealVision 3D you need a RealVision-capable transducer like the CPT-100DVS or CPT-200. For 1kW CHIRP you can run any compatible Raymarine 1kW transducer or a thru-hull setup. The Axiom Pro 12 RVX itself is sold without a transducer because boaters spec the right transducer for their hull and fishing style.

What charts come preloaded?

Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada is preloaded on the included chart card. That covers U.S. inland lakes, U.S. coastal waters, and Canadian east and Pacific coasts with high-resolution chart data including SonarChart bathymetry. You can swap in other cartography (Navionics Platinum+, C-MAP, LightHouse charts) on either microSDXC slot if you fish other regions or want different chart products.

How does HybridTouch help in real conditions?

In a pitching boat or with wet gloves, the touchscreen is unreliable. The dedicated hard buttons across the bottom and the rotary knob give you full control without touching the screen. In calm water at the dock, the touchscreen is faster for chart panning and waypoint marking. You use whichever input works for the conditions instead of being locked into one input mode.

Can I network it with another Axiom display?

Yes. Two RayNet Ethernet ports let you network multiple Axiom displays at the helm and second stations. Sonar, charts, waypoints, routes, radar overlay, and cursor position all share across the network. NMEA 2000 handles engine and vessel data on the broader backbone. WiFi is internal to the unit, not for display-to-display communication.

What radar works with this MFD?

Raymarine Cyclone and Quantum solid-state radars are driven natively over RayNet. Older Raymarine HD digital radomes also work with the appropriate adapter. The MFD supports radar overlay on chart, dual-range MARPA target tracking, and Doppler bird detection on Cyclone radomes.

How does the FLIR thermal camera integration work?

FLIR M-Series thermal cameras connect to the Axiom Pro over the IP camera network. The MFD displays the camera feed full-screen or windowed alongside chart and sonar. ClearCruise IR object detection automatically alerts you to hazards in the boat's path during night running, calling out other boats, buoys, and floating debris before you'd see them with your own eyes.

What's included in the box?

The Axiom Pro 12 RVX display, the surface mount kit, the trunnion mount kit, sun cover, power and NMEA 0183 cable, a micro-C DeviceNet (F) to STNG (F) 1-meter NMEA 2000 cable, a 2-meter RayNet to RayNet Ethernet cable, install instructions, and the Navionics+ USA and Coastal Canada chart card preloaded.

What voltage does it run on?

12V or 24V DC, with broad acceptance across the range. Power and NMEA 0183 share a single multi-function cable. Use marine-grade tinned wire on a dedicated circuit (not shared with bilge pumps or noisy accessories) to keep sonar imagery clean.

Can I run AIS on this unit?

Yes. AIS is integrated. You'll need an AIS transponder or receiver (sold separately) connected over NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183. AIS targets show on the chart with full target data, MARPA-style tracking, and CPA / TCPA alarms.

Will it work with a foreign-flagged or international helm?

Yes. The unit is multi-language, the GPS receiver supports global GNSS constellations, and additional cartography for Mediterranean, UK, Australia, and other regions is available on chart cards. The included Navionics+ chart is USA and Coastal Canada specifically, but the hardware itself is global.

How long is the warranty?

2-year limited Raymarine warranty. Service runs through the Raymarine authorized dealer network in the U.S. We can connect you with a service center if you ever need one.
