RAILBLAZA HEXX Live Pole 30 - Live Sonar Transducer Mount

The RAILBLAZA HEXX Live Pole 30 is a purpose-built mounting pole for live forward-looking sonar transducers on kayaks, canoes, dinghies, and other small fishing craft. If you're a kayak angler running a major-brand live sonar system, you already know the mounting problem: live sonar transducers need to be deployed to a specific depth below the kayak hull and oriented in a specific direction to scan effectively, then stowed cleanly for transit. There's no good factory mounting solution for kayaks - every transducer ships with a mount designed for full-size boats. What live sonar is and why mounting matters. Live forward-looking sonar (sold as Live Scope, Active Target, Mega Live, and similar names from the major fish-finder brands) is a transformative fishing technology that shows real-time underwater imagery of what's in front of and around the boat - you can literally watch fish swim, watch them respond to your lure, and adjust your retrieve based on their behavior. On a full-size boat, the transducer mounts on the bow trolling motor or on a dedicated transducer pole. On a kayak, there's no trolling motor and no transom-mount location that works - which is why kayak anglers were stuck zip-tying transducers to broom handles or fabricating make-do mounts. The HEXX Live Pole gives you the same kind of pole-mount functionality kayak anglers were jury-rigging, but engineered specifically for the application with all the features that matter.

360-degree rotation - what it does for live sonar. The pole rotates a full 360 degrees, with the transducer pointing wherever you rotate the pole. For traditional 2D sonar, rotation didn't matter much because you were just looking straight down. For live sonar, rotation is everything - you want to scan ahead to see what's coming, turn 45 degrees to scan to the side, turn another 45 degrees to look behind. The 360-degree rotation on the HEXX Live Pole lets you scan in any direction without having to turn the kayak. Combined with the kayak's own maneuverability, you can systematically cover an area or track a moving fish that's swimming around the boat.

The direction indicator - the small detail that matters. At the top of the pole is a physical direction indicator that shows you which way the transducer is pointed below the water. Sounds trivial until you've used a pole without one - it's surprisingly easy to lose track of which way the transducer is pointing during a busy fishing session, especially when you've been making lots of small rotation adjustments. With the direction indicator, you can glance up, see exactly which way you're aimed, and correlate that with what's showing on your fish finder screen. Eliminates a constant source of small frustration in live sonar use.

Folding design for kayak storage. The HEXX Live Pole 30 folds flat against the kayak deck when not in use. Folded position keeps the pole out of the way during paddling, transit, and trailering - critical because a deployed pole sticks up off the deck and would catch on roof racks, garage door frames, low branches, and other obstacles you encounter between the lake and home. When you're ready to fish, the pole unfolds into the deployed position in seconds. The folding mechanism is positive-lock in both the folded and deployed positions - doesn't slop around in either configuration. The pole can also be removed entirely from the mount in seconds for full kayak storage or for transferring the pole between multiple kayaks.

Track mount ready - what kayak rails it fits. The HEXX Live Pole 30 ships with track mount fasteners sized for the standard kayak rail systems used on most fishing kayaks: Hobie H-track, YakAttack GearTrac, and most other 1-inch-wide rail track systems. Install on your kayak's existing track is a 5-minute job with the included fasteners - no drilling, no modification to the kayak. Cable management clips. The transducer cable runs from the transducer (at the bottom of the pole, in the water) up the pole and across the deck to the fish finder display unit. Without cable management, the cable drapes loosely and snags on rods, fishing line, paddles, your hands, and everything else on the kayak deck. The HEXX Live Pole includes integrated cable management clips that secure the cable along the pole's length - clean install, no snag points, no cable abrasion against the pole. Compatibility with live sonar transducers. The HEXX mount is sized for the standard live forward-looking sonar transducer form factor used by the major fish-finder brands. The specific live sonar systems on the market that fit this mount include the major-brand forward-looking products from the leading fish-finder manufacturers - check the specific transducer dimensions against the HEXX mount specifications before ordering if you have an unusual or older transducer model. Most current-generation live sonar transducers from the major brands fit without adapters.

Construction materials. The pole body is UV-resistant fiberglass-reinforced nylon - tough plastic that resists impact, UV degradation, and water absorption. The pole shaft is extruded anodized aluminum - lightweight (matters for kayak total weight), corrosion-proof in marine service, and stiff enough to hold the transducer position without flex in current or wave action. The HEXX mount itself uses the same materials with stainless steel hardware at all attachment points.

Weight - 4.4 lb. Total system weight is 4.4 lb, light enough to add to any reasonable fishing kayak without noticeably affecting handling, paddling effort, or transport. Why 30 (the number in the product name). The 30 in HEXX Live Pole 30 refers to the pole length in inches - 30 inches is the standard length that puts the transducer at appropriate depth below the kayak hull for most kayak applications. RAILBLAZA also makes shorter and longer versions for specific use cases (very shallow water or very deep water installations), but the 30-inch version is the default sweet spot that covers most kayak/canoe/dinghy use.

What's in the box. One HEXX Live Pole (the pole assembly with rotation hardware and direction indicator), one HEXX Mount (the kayak-side mounting bracket that the pole attaches to), and kayak track mount fasteners sized for standard kayak rail systems. The live sonar transducer itself is NOT included - you mount your existing transducer to the HEXX Live Pole mount cup at the bottom of the pole.

Install time. Realistic install: 15-30 minutes for a first install if your kayak already has track rails. Mount the HEXX Mount to the kayak track (5 minutes), attach the pole to the HEXX Mount (5 minutes), mount your transducer to the pole cup (10-15 minutes per the transducer's instructions), route and secure the transducer cable to the fish finder (5-10 minutes).
