Professional Installation Features
The innovative flange design uses built-in alignment markings to match your boat's deadrise angle perfectly. Once positioned and sealed with marine epoxy, the chamber is filled with non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze, creating an optimal acoustic coupling medium that transmits sound waves efficiently through the fiberglass hull.
Performance Optimization
Unlike traditional bonded transducers, the P79's liquid-filled design eliminates sound-absorbing adhesive layers between the transducer face and hull. This engineering approach ensures maximum sound energy transmission, resulting in stronger echoes and more reliable depth readings.
Ideal Applications
Perfect for trailered boats, high-speed vessels, racing sailboats, and any application requiring minimal drag. The in-hull design protects against impact damage while providing professional sonar performance without compromising hull integrity or boat speed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What hull materials are compatible with the P79?
The P79 works with solid fiberglass hulls up to 5/8" thick and aluminum hulls less than 3.8mm thick. It's not compatible with cored hulls or hulls with foam/honeycomb sandwich construction.
Can the P79 be used with speed and temperature sensors?
The P79 provides depth readings only. For speed and temperature, it can be used in conjunction with the Raymarine E66019 ST69 speed and temperature sensor for complete navigation data.
How does the adjustable angle feature work?
The flange includes built-in alignment markings that allow precise adjustment to match your boat's deadrise angle from 2° to 22°. This ensures the transducer beam points straight down for optimal echo returns.
What maintenance is required for the P79?
The P79 requires minimal maintenance. The transducer can be removed in seconds for cleaning or storage, while the permanently mounted base remains sealed to the hull. Periodic propylene glycol replacement may be needed.
Professional Marine Electronics Excellence
Trust Raymarine's decades of marine sonar innovation with the P79 adjustable in-hull transducer. This professional-grade solution combines advanced acoustic technology with innovative installation design, delivering reliable depth performance while preserving your boat's hull integrity.
The P79 adjustable, in-hull depth transducer is ideal for boats with fiberglass hulls looking for a fast and easy installation, high-speed performance, or those who want to minimize drag. The transducer installs inside of the boat's hull, transmitting and receiving echoes through the solid fiberglass bottom with no hull protrusion whatsoever. P79 comes with an innovative flange that installs on the inside of the boat's hull using quick-setting marine epoxy. No cutting or drilling is required. Using built-in markings the flange is aligned to match the dead rise angle of the boat's hull. Once set in place and made liquid-tight, the flange is filled with propylene glycol non-toxic antifreeze and the active transducer cap is attached. Finally, the transducer cap is dialed-in and locked in place for a straight-down beam and maximum echo returns. The design of the P79 accommodates a wide range of dead rise angles from 2 Degree to 22 Degree. This transducer is intended for use on vessels with solid fiberglass hulls with a maximum thickness of 5/8 Inch. P79 can also be used on aluminum hulls less than 3.8 Millimeter thick.
