Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST 90/115 Trolling Motor, 24/36V, 52" Shaft — Product description

Minn Kota's Ultrex QUEST cable-steer trolling motor in the 90/115 dual-voltage configuration with a 52-inch shaft. Brushless motor with up to 90 pounds of thrust on 24V or 115 pounds on 36V, programmable foot pedal with power steering, built-in MEGA Down and Side Imaging transducer, Spot-Lock GPS holding, Drift Mode for automated speed and course control, and the included heading sensor that enables Jog. Built-in micro remote provides handheld control. Designed for serious bass and walleye tournament boats running One-Boat Network integration.

The Ultrex QUEST 90/115 is Minn Kota's flagship cable-steer trolling motor at the top of the Ultrex line. The QUEST series was completely re-engineered from the ground up with updates to the mounts, propellers, lift-assist systems, drive motor, and software. The 90/115 designation indicates dual-voltage operation: 90 pounds of thrust on 24V or 115 pounds of thrust on 36V, depending on how you've wired the boat's house bank. For serious bass tournament boats running 36V trolling motor systems, the 115-pound thrust is meaningful for fighting heavy current or moving the boat against wind. For walleye and inshore work where 24V is more common, the 90-pound rating is plenty for most applications.

The brushless motor is the headline mechanical upgrade. Brushless designs run cooler, last longer, and draw less current at the same thrust than older brushed motors. Combined with Digital Maximizer (Minn Kota's variable-speed control that delivers only the power you actually need), the QUEST series can run up to 5 times longer on a single battery charge than non-Maximizer motors. Real-time battery monitoring shows the time-until-empty estimate on the display and notifies you when battery power drops to 20%, prompting you to engage Eco-mode that reduces current draw to extend the remaining run time. For all-day tournament fishing, that battery management is the difference between making it back to weigh-in under power and having to row.

The Ultrex is Minn Kota's cable-steer model, which means the foot pedal directly controls the motor's steering through a physical cable rather than electronically. Cable steering is what tournament anglers prefer because the response is instant with no electronic lag, and the feel through the foot pedal tells you exactly what the motor is doing. The QUEST's heel-toe programmable foot pedal includes power steering for all-day comfort, plus a user-programmable button that you can map to your most-used feature. Common assignments include waypoint marking, AutoPilot engagement, or deploying/retracting the boat's Minn Kota shallow-water anchors. The micro remote in the box provides handheld control for situations where you're working at the front of the boat without standing on the foot pedal.

The GPS system pre-installed on the trolling motor is what makes the QUEST work as a tactical fishing tool. Spot-Lock holds the boat in a fixed GPS position without you touching the motor, which is what you use when you're casting to a brush pile or working a specific structure point. The included heading sensor enables Jog, which lets you move the Spot-Lock target 5 feet in any direction without disengaging the Spot-Lock and re-engaging at a new position. Drift Mode is the second standout feature: it automatically engages speed and course control simultaneously, which means the motor maintains your specified course over ground at your specified speed even with wind and current pushing the boat off-track. For drift fishing applications, Drift Mode replaces the kicker motor or the drift sock the traditional way of controlling speed over water.

One-Boat Network integration ties the trolling motor to a compatible Minn Kota-paired fish finder for shared control of the boat. The pairing is what lets you set Spot-Locks from the fish finder, record paths and follow them later, follow depth contours automatically, and navigate to saved spots from the chartplotter's touchscreen. Built into the motor itself is a MEGA Down Imaging and MEGA Side Imaging transducer, so you don't need to mount a separate transducer on the trolling motor shaft. The MEGA Imaging feeds straight to a compatible fish finder through the Minn Kota network. For new installs, the QUEST motor plus a current-generation compatible fish finder gives you everything needed for tournament-level boat control plus high-detail imaging in one integrated system. The 52-inch shaft is the standard length for boats with bow heights in the typical bass-boat range. For boats with taller bow heights, the 60-inch shaft variant is the right alternative.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between 24V and 36V on this motor?

Thrust output. On 24V the motor delivers 90 pounds of thrust. On 36V it delivers 115 pounds. The dual-voltage capability lets you wire the motor to whichever house bank voltage your boat already has. For pure performance the 36V configuration is the right pick if you have the battery capacity to support it. For 24V boats the 90-pound rating is still plenty for most bass and walleye applications.

Will the 52-inch shaft fit my boat?

The 52-inch shaft is the standard length for boats with a bow height of about 22 inches off the water at rest. For boats with a higher bow height (lifted center consoles, bay boats, some larger bass boats), the 60-inch shaft variant is the right alternative. For boats with a lower bow height, the 45-inch shaft works on certain configurations. Measure your bow height from the deck to the water at rest before ordering.

What's One-Boat Network?

It's the Minn Kota ecosystem that ties the trolling motor to a compatible Minn Kota-paired fish finder for shared boat control. From the fish finder you can set Spot-Locks, record paths, follow depth contours, and navigate to saved spots without using the foot pedal. The integration is what makes the Ultrex QUEST a tactical fishing tool rather than just a motor with a foot pedal.

Do I need a heading sensor?

It's included with this trolling motor. The heading sensor is required for the Jog feature, which lets you move a Spot-Lock target 5 feet in any direction without disengaging Spot-Lock. The sensor also stabilizes the boat's heading reference for automatic course-following modes like Drift Mode and AutoPilot.

What's Drift Mode?

It automatically engages speed and course control at the same time, which means the trolling motor maintains your specified course over ground at your specified speed regardless of wind and current. For drift fishing, Drift Mode replaces the kicker motor or drift sock that traditional drift fishing requires. You set the speed and the heading, and the motor handles the rest.

Why brushless versus brushed motor?

Brushless motors run cooler, last longer, and draw less current at the same thrust than brushed motors. Combined with Digital Maximizer's variable-speed control, the brushless QUEST series delivers up to 5 times longer runtime per battery charge than non-Maximizer brushed motors. For all-day tournament fishing, that battery management is one of the most important upgrades.

Does it need a separate transducer for the fish finder?

No. The MEGA Down Imaging and MEGA Side Imaging transducer is built into the trolling motor itself. The transducer feeds high-detail imaging straight to a compatible fish finder over the Minn Kota network. You save the cost and the install complexity of mounting a separate transducer on the trolling motor shaft.

Can I run it without a compatible fish finder?

Yes. The motor's foot pedal, micro remote, and built-in GPS system all work independently of a fish finder. Spot-Lock, Drift Mode, AutoPilot, and waypoint navigation all run from the motor alone. The fish finder pairing adds advanced features (visualizing Spot-Locks on the chart, following recorded paths on the screen, contour following), but the core features work without it.

What's the warranty?

Minn Kota's standard limited warranty applies. Coverage details ship with the motor. The QUEST series carries a 3-year warranty on most major components. Minn Kota's customer service handles in-warranty work directly through authorized service centers.

Does it come with batteries?

No. Batteries are a separate purchase based on your house bank configuration (typically 2 or 3 marine deep-cycle batteries wired in series for 24V or 36V operation). We can recommend appropriate battery sizing for your fishing style if you tell us how many hours of run time per day you typically need.
