Garmin Reactor 40 Steer-by-wire Corepack f/Yamaha Helm Master
Garmin Reactor 40 Steer-by-wire Corepack f/Yamaha Helm Master — Product description
Experience Effortless Steering with Advanced Autopilot Precision
Imagine gliding across choppy waters without constantly fighting the helm. The Garmin Reactor 40 steer-by-wire corepack tailored for Yamaha Helm Master systems delivers exactly that—seamless, responsive control that adapts to every wave and gust. Designed for both powerboats and sailboats, this system brings commercial-grade autopilot performance to recreational boating, letting you focus on the journey rather than the corrections.
What sets it apart? Its solid-state 9-axis Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) senses motion in all directions, mounting almost anywhere on your vessel. This means tighter heading holds, smoother rides, and less wear on your steering gear, all while sipping power efficiently.
Versatile Features for Every Boating Adventure
Whether you're cruising open water, trolling for fish, or tacking through a regatta, this autopilot handles it all. Powerboat modes include heading hold and step turns for precise maneuvers. Sailors benefit from wind hold, automated tacks, and jibes that feel intuitive and natural.
- Sea-State Intelligent (SSI) Technology: Automatically adjusts to boat pitch and roll, minimizing course deviation even in rough conditions.
- Low Power Draw: Optimized for long days on the water without draining batteries.
- Shadow Drive Handling (with compatible setups): Hands-on override that seamlessly transitions back to autopilot mode.
Boaters rave about how it transforms fatiguing passages into relaxing outings, especially on longer trips where steady course-keeping prevents skipper burnout.
Seamless Integration into Your Yamaha Setup
Engineered specifically for Yamaha Helm Master systems—excluding Helm Master EX—this corepack slots right into your existing digital switching world. Connect via NMEA 2000 for shared data with Garmin chartplotters, enabling radar overlays, chart autopilot paths, and group tracking.
Control from multiple stations with up to three GHC 20 displays, or go hands-free with compatible Garmin smartwatches. Add a wireless remote for ultimate flexibility, and watch your boat respond instantly to commands from anywhere onboard.
Quick Setup for More Time on the Water
No marathon calibration sessions here. Basic commissioning takes minutes, thanks to the intuitive interface and smart sensors. Mount the compact Course Computer Unit (CCU) in tight spaces—it's fully sealed against saltwater and impacts. Pair it with the buzzer for audible alerts, and you're ready to test in calm conditions before heading out.
Real-world tip: Position the AHRS away from magnetic interference for pinpoint accuracy from the start.
Built Tough for Marine Demands
Rated IPX7 waterproof, this system thrives from freezing temps to scorching heat. High-impact plastics shrug off knocks, while the gasketed design keeps moisture out. Voltage flexibility (9-16V) ensures reliable operation across battery setups.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Garmin Reactor 40 compatible with all Yamaha Helm Master systems?
It's designed for Yamaha Helm Master systems but not compatible with Helm Master EX. Confirm your setup for seamless integration.
How does the 9-axis AHRS improve autopilot performance?
The solid-state 9-axis AHRS tracks heading, pitch, roll, and yaw in real-time, allowing flexible mounting and superior course holding in rough seas compared to traditional gyros.
What's the setup process like for this corepack?
Minimal commissioning and calibration—often completed in under 30 minutes. Connect via NMEA 2000, run sea trials, and fine-tune as needed.
Can it handle both powerboats and sailboats?
Yes, versatile corepack includes modes for heading hold, wind hold, tacks, jibes, and step turns, suiting diverse vessels.
Does it integrate with Garmin chartplotters?
Fully integrates via NMEA 2000 for autopilot control, MARPA radar overlays, and optional Auto Guidance paths (with compatible charts).
How many control units can I use?
Up to three GHC 20 displays, plus wireless remotes or smartwatches for multi-station control.
