Garmin P19 Nylon 20° Tilt Transducer - 8-Pin — Product description

Discover Superior Underwater Visibility with the Garmin P19 Nylon Transducer

Imagine gliding through choppy waters, confident that your sonar is painting a crystal-clear picture of the depths below. The Garmin P19 Nylon 20° Tilt Transducer stands out as a go-to choice for boaters seeking reliable performance without the bulk. Designed for thru-hull mounting, this 8-pin powerhouse delivers dual-frequency sonar at 77/200 kHz, capturing everything from vast open water to tight structures with precision. Whether you're tracking baitfish schools or navigating shallow bays, its tilted element ensures a straight-down beam, compensating for your hull's deadrise angle between 16° and 24°.

What sets this transducer apart? Its low-profile nylon housing protrudes just a fraction of an inch beyond the hull, slashing drag for smoother, faster rides. Boaters on fiberglass or metal hulls rave about how it maintains strong signals even at planing speeds, thanks to the robust 500-watt power handling and beam widths of 45°/15°. Dive deeper—up to 900 feet—with temperature sensing included, giving you the full environmental snapshot.

Engineered for Real-World Boating Adventures

Cruising sailboats or powerboats up to 30 feet? This transducer fits seamlessly. The 20° fixed tilt means no extra fairing needed, simplifying installs on sloped hulls. Its 30-foot cable offers flexibility for routing through tight bilge spaces, and the right-angle connector guards against snags. ABYC H-27 compliant housing ensures safety, while the included rubber washer conforms to uneven surfaces for a watertight seal.

  • Dual Beam Performance: Wide 77 kHz cone (45°) for broad coverage; narrow 200 kHz (15°) for detailed bottom contouring.
  • Depth and Temp: Tracks water column changes and surface temps to spot thermoclines where fish hide.
  • High-Speed Stability: Maintains clear returns without air bubbles interfering, even pushing 30+ knots.
  • Durable Build: Nylon resists corrosion in saltwater; steps and dings won't faze it.

Pro tip: Pair it with modern Garmin sounders for CHIRP-like clarity on traditional frequencies—perfect for upgrading older setups without breaking the bank.

Effortless Installation and Long-Term Reliability

Setting up a thru-hull transducer can feel daunting, but the P19 keeps it straightforward. Drill a clean 2-inch hole, bed in sealant, and torque the hull nut—installation instructions guide you every step. No need for high-headroom; the compact design slips under most liners. For best results, mount forward of props and keels, aligning the tilt with your deadrise for that vertical beam.

Maintenance is a breeze: Rinse after saltwater use, inspect the face for marine growth, and you're set for seasons of service. Boaters report years of trouble-free operation, with the 1-year warranty providing peace of mind from a brand synonymous with marine innovation.

"Swapped to the P19 on my 25ft center console—night-and-day difference in bottom tracking at speed. No more guesswork on reefs." – Experienced offshore angler

Why Boaters Trust the P19 for Everyday Wins

In a sea of transducers, the Garmin P19 shines for its balance of affordability, performance, and simplicity. It's not just about specs; it's about fewer missed fish, safer anchoring, and more time enjoying the water. Ideal for weekend warriors and liveaboard cruisers alike, it outperforms pod-style mounts in clarity while minimizing hydrodynamic penalties. If your current setup struggles with hull slap or weak signals, this tilted thru-hull upgrade delivers immediate gains.

Compare it to flush-mount alternatives: The P19's exposed ceramic maximizes sensitivity without epoxy hassles. For deadrise matching, it's unbeatable in the 16-24° sweet spot—common on production trailered boats.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hull types is the Garmin P19 Nylon 20° Tilt Transducer best suited for?

It's optimized for fiberglass and metal hulls with 16° to 24° deadrise angles. The built-in 20° tilt ensures a vertical sonar beam without additional fairings, making it ideal for planing powerboats and sailboats up to 30 feet.

Does this transducer support temperature sensing?

Yes, it provides both depth and water temperature data, helping you locate thermal edges and productive zones.

How deep can the P19 transducer detect?

It reaches up to 900 feet, depending on conditions, water clarity, and your display unit's processing power.

Is the 8-pin connector compatible with all Garmin units?

It works with most Garmin chartplotters and fishfinders featuring 8-pin sonar ports. Check your model's specs for dual-frequency support.

How do I maintain the transducer for longevity?

Rinse with fresh water after saltwater exposure, clean the face gently to remove growth, and avoid impacts. The nylon housing is tough but inspect seals annually.

Can it perform well at high boat speeds?

Absolutely—its low-drag design and stable mounting minimize ventilation, delivering reliable readings up to planing speeds.

What's the cable length and routing ease?

30 feet of cable with a right-angle 8-pin connector allows flexible routing through bulkheads and under flooring.

Tilted Element™ Thru-Hull

Minimize Your Drag
The P19 model have been the standard in low-profile models for many years. Their large sensitive ceramics allow deep echosounding up to 206M (700'). These nearly flush units minimize drag as only 5mm (2/10") of the housing extends outside of the hull. The plastic P19 provides a vertical beam without a fairing. Inside the housing, the ceramic element is tilted to provide built-in deadrise compensation. The resulting vertical beam provides excellent echo returns for moreaccurate depth readings.
