Minn Kota PowerDrive Foot Pedal - ACC Corded (1866070)

The Minn Kota PowerDrive Foot Pedal is the corded accessory foot pedal that adds hands-free steering and speed control to compatible PowerDrive trolling motors. If you've got a PowerDrive that came with a remote (or no controller at all) and you want to fish bow-mount with both hands free for casting and rod handling, this is the accessory you add. 18-foot cord with a sealed waterproof connector reaches from the bow to wherever you stand, and the pedal itself goes flat on the casting deck where your foot naturally rests.

What this pedal actually does. Side-to-side rocker steering controls the trolling motor's heading. Press one side, the motor turns left. Press the other, it turns right. The further you press, the harder the motor turns. With practice you can make precise micro-adjustments without ever taking your hand off the rod. The momentary ON switch runs the motor only while you're pressing the switch, useful for short bursts of power on a finesse drift. The constant ON switch holds the motor on until you tap it again, useful for sustained trolling or repositioning. The speed control knob lets you set how fast the motor runs when it's on. Spin the knob to your speed, then use the on/off switches independently.

What it doesn't do. This pedal doesn't have GPS Spot-Lock, doesn't have AutoPilot, doesn't have any of the smart electronic features of an i-Pilot system. It's an electromechanical foot pedal, plain and simple. If you want GPS-based features, the i-Pilot system on a Bluetooth-equipped PowerDrive is the right upgrade path, but it's a different controller (and this pedal is not compatible with i-Pilot motors). For boaters who don't need or want GPS automation, the simplicity of a corded foot pedal is a feature, not a limitation.

Compatibility check. This pedal works with PowerDrive, PowerDrive V2, Riptide PowerDrive, and Riptide SP trolling motors manufactured in 2007 or later. The connector pattern matches those generations. If your motor predates 2007 or is an i-Pilot equipped model, this pedal will not plug in. The fix for older motors is the older-generation foot pedal SKU. The fix for i-Pilot motors is the wireless remote that ships with i-Pilot. Always confirm your motor's manufacturing year and i-Pilot status before ordering.

The 18-foot cord is sized for typical bow-mount installs where the trolling motor head sits at the bow tip and the pedal lives on the casting deck a few feet behind it. Most installs have plenty of slack to route the cord cleanly along the deck edge. For longer custom runs, you'd want to splice in additional cable, which is doable but requires marine-grade waterproof splices to maintain the cord's water resistance.

The waterproof connector is the design upgrade over older foot pedal cords. Older trolling motor pedal connectors were prone to corrosion at the contact points, especially in saltwater service, which would lead to intermittent steering or speed control over time. The sealed connector on this pedal eliminates that failure mode if you keep it seated when in use. We still recommend a small amount of dielectric grease on the connector pins before assembly for long-term saltwater installs.

The pedal itself is a flat, low-profile design that sits on a flat casting deck without tilt or wedging. The 0-degree mounting orientation puts your foot in a natural neutral position that doesn't strain your ankle over a long day. Some anglers prefer a slightly tilted pedal for a more pronounced toe-up or toe-down rocker, but Minn Kota's design philosophy is that the flat pedal is more universally comfortable and reduces fatigue on multi-hour drifts.

Mount it however your boat layout makes sense. Most owners use stainless screws through the pedal base into the casting deck. Some use removable adhesive mounts or non-skid pads if they want to reposition the pedal between trips. Position it 6 to 12 inches from your typical casting position so your foot drops naturally onto the pedal without you having to look down. After a few trips you stop noticing the pedal location, which is the goal.

CoPilot compatibility. This pedal also works alongside the Minn Kota CoPilot wireless remote system. CoPilot is the simpler, older Minn Kota wireless remote (predates Bluetooth i-Pilot) that gives you a basic handheld remote in addition to the foot pedal. With both installed, you can use the pedal when your foot is on the deck and the remote when you're working a different rod station. The two controllers don't conflict.

Maintenance is essentially zero. Rinse the pedal with fresh water after salt trips. Disconnect the connector from the motor when storing the boat for the off-season to prevent any corrosion at the pin interface. Inspect the cord visually each season for chafe or cuts.

One important install note. The pedal cord runs through the bow area where it's exposed to other deck hardware. Route the cord along an edge, secure it with cable clamps every few feet, and make sure it doesn't run across an area where rod butts, anchors, or feet would land on it during fishing. A cord that's been stepped on or pinched repeatedly will eventually fail at the strain point, even if the connector itself is fine.

What's in the box. The PowerDrive Foot Pedal with the 18-foot cord and waterproof connector pre-attached. Mounting hardware is not included. You'll source stainless screws or your preferred mounting method based on your install location. Owner's manual is included.
