It's the part of a black-box-processor helm install that gives owners the display surface they want, sized to a specific helm cutout, with the touch capability that turns any HDMI-output processor into a touch-capable system at the display side. What touch technology does it use?

Projected-capacitive (PCAP), the same technology used in current-generation phones and tablets. PCAP supports multi-touch gestures (pinch-zoom, two-finger pan), is highly accurate when optically bonded (as the SRT-17 is), and doesn't require operator pressure to register touch, unlike older resistive touch panels.

How bright is the display?

1500 nits, which is the upper end of the marine-display brightness category. For comparison, typical marine displays are 1000-1200 nits, and consumer monitors are 250-400 nits. 1500 nits delivers genuine direct-sun readability with margin even for tropical helm noon conditions.

What's IP68?
