Mastervolt ChargeMaster Plus 24V 110A 2-Bank Charger — Product description

The Mastervolt ChargeMaster Plus 24V/110-2 is the premium marine battery charger for 24V house bank applications that need serious charging current and multi-chemistry flexibility. Two outputs at a combined 110 amps with the 3-Step+ charge profile, multi-voltage operation that lets a 12V starter battery charge from a 24V system without extra hardware, MasterBus and CZone networking out of the box, and worldwide AC input from 80 to 275 volts at 35 to 70 hertz. The right choice for serious cruising sailboats, larger powerboats, and commercial vessels running 24V house systems.

The Mastervolt ChargeMaster Plus 24V/110-2 (part number 44321105) is the all-in-one marine battery charger for 24V house bank applications that demand serious charging current, smart multi-chemistry support, and full integration with the rest of the boat's electrical system. Two outputs delivering a combined 110 amps at 24V, the proven 3-Step+ charge profile that extends battery life, MasterBus and CZone networking built right into the unit, and the worldwide AC input range that means this charger works on shore power anywhere in the world. Designed and built by Mastervolt for serious cruising boats, larger powerboats, and commercial vessels.

What makes the Plus generation different. The original ChargeMaster series was already a solid marine charger. The Plus generation rolls in features that used to require separate boxes: a DC-DC converter for cross-charging between battery banks of different voltages, an integrated VSR (voltage-sensitive relay) for combining banks during charge, a current limiter for protecting source feeds, and Priority Charge logic that automatically routes available power to the lowest battery first. One charger replaces the auxiliary charger plus battery isolator plus VSR plus DC-DC converter that older systems needed. Less wiring, less complexity, less to fail, less to troubleshoot.

The 3-Step+ charge profile it's the right charge algorithm for boats that hold their batteries through long off-grid stretches. Bulk charge to 80% of capacity at full current, absorption charge to top off the remaining 20%, then float at the chemistry-appropriate maintenance voltage. The Plus refinement adds Safe Charge state-of-charge detection that recognizes a battery's actual condition before applying current, which means deeply discharged or sulfated batteries get the right recovery treatment instead of being slammed with bulk current that could damage them.

Multi-chemistry support is the feature that makes this charger future-proof. Most boats have a mix of battery chemistries today. Lithium iron phosphate for the main house bank because it gives the most usable amp-hours per pound and tolerates partial-state-of-charge cycling indefinitely, AGM for engine starting because it handles cold-cranking surge well and doesn't need maintenance, and maybe a flooded reserve bank for emergency loads. The ChargeMaster Plus charges all three chemistries from one box with the right voltage profile for each. No separate chargers, no manual chemistry switching, no compromises.

Multi-voltage operation is the feature that drops jaws when boatbuilders see it for the first time. This is a 24V charger that can also charge a 12V starter battery directly, without any additional DC-DC converter hardware. Big trawlers and cruising sailboats commonly run a 24V house system for inverter and bow thruster loads but a 12V starter battery for the main engine. With most chargers, that meant either a separate 12V charger or a separate DC-DC converter. With the ChargeMaster Plus, one charger handles both. Real money saved on the install.

MasterBus and CZone integration is the networking story. MasterBus is the Mastervolt CAN-based control protocol that ties chargers, inverters, shunts, displays, and switching gear into one coherent system. The ChargeMaster Plus speaks MasterBus natively, so it shows up on a MasterView display alongside the rest of the electrical system, and it can be configured, monitored, and controlled remotely from the helm. The CZone version (which this part number is) adds CZone digital switching protocol support and NMEA 2000 communication without needing additional interfaces. CZone integration means this charger can be configured from a CZone-compatible MFD and can show up on the boat's primary navigation display alongside engine and tank data.

Worldwide AC input is the feature for owners who actually take their boat overseas. AC input range of 80 to 275 volts at 35 to 70 hertz means the charger accepts shore power on any mains system in the world without an adapter or transformer. Plug into a 240V European pedestal in the Mediterranean or a 100V Japanese dock or a 120V US slip , the charger handles all three with the same output performance. Voltage fluctuation tolerance is wider than most competing chargers, which matters in older marinas and developing-country ports where the shore power isn't always clean.

The 110A output rating is what you should be sizing for if you've got a 24V house bank in the 400 to 800 amp-hour range and you'll want to bulk-recharge in a few hours of generator runtime or a single long shore-power session. For larger banks (1000+ Ah), Mastervolt makes higher-current ChargeMaster Plus units. For smaller banks, lower-amp variants. This unit is the sweet spot for most serious cruising boats with substantial 24V house systems.

Ruggedization. Aluminum enclosure with internal fan cooling sized for full output at high ambient temperatures. The unit is rated to keep delivering 80% of rated charging power at 60 degrees C ambient, which matters in unventilated engine rooms in the tropics where most chargers derate severely. Vibration tolerance and protection against humidity, salt fog, and condensation are built to marine-environment specs.

Certifications. CE, ABYC, UL, SAE, CEC/DOE energy efficiency, RCM/C-Tick. The full list of certifications matters for commercial and survey-classed vessels and for owners doing insurance-required electrical inspections.

What this charger isn't. It's not a charger / inverter combo. It charges only , it doesn't invert. If you need both functions in one unit, look at the Mastervolt MassCombi line. It's also not the smallest or lightest charger in this output class. The trade-off for the multi-function flexibility and rugged build is more weight and a larger footprint than a stripped-down single-purpose charger of similar output.

Installation. Wall or shelf mount in the engine room or battery compartment. Battery cable lugs sized for the rated output current (consult the install manual for cable AWG and fuse sizing). Network connection via MasterBus drop cable or CZone backbone tap. AC mains connection via the supplied terminal strip. The install manual is detailed and specific , read it once before starting and the install goes smoothly.

Warranty: standard Mastervolt 2-Year limited warranty, with the typical Mastervolt option to extend through the dealer network. Same-day shipping before 3 PM ET on in-stock units.

Frequently asked questions

What size 24V house bank is this charger right for?

The 110A output is sized for 24V banks in the 400 to 800 amp-hour range if you want to bulk-recharge in a single long generator or shore-power session. For banks larger than about 1000 Ah you'll want to step up to a higher-amp ChargeMaster Plus variant. For smaller banks, lower-amp variants in the same family are more cost-effective.

Can this charger really charge a 12V starter battery from a 24V system?

Yes. Multi-voltage operation is one of the standout features of the Plus generation. The integrated DC-DC converter inside the charger cross-charges a 12V starter battery from the 24V house bus without any external hardware. This is genuinely useful on boats running 24V house systems with a 12V starter, which is a very common configuration on larger sailboats and cruising powerboats.

What does CZone integration do for me?

CZone is the digital switching and monitoring protocol used on a lot of modern production boats. With CZone built in, this charger shows up natively on a CZone-compatible MFD (any CZone-compatible MFD), can be configured from a CZone config tool, and ties into the boat's overall electrical monitoring without needing a separate gateway box. NMEA 2000 communication is included on the same physical interface.

Does it support lithium batteries?

Yes. The multi-chemistry charge profile is the right charge curve for LiFePO4 lithium iron phosphate banks, and the charger correctly handles the lower float voltage and absorption profile that lithium chemistries need. Mastervolt also makes lithium-specific battery management products that integrate with this charger over MasterBus for full battery monitoring and protection.

What's the difference between this and the Mastervolt MassCombi?

The MassCombi is a charger / inverter combination unit. This is a charger only. If you need both functions in one box, MassCombi. If you already have an inverter or want to size charging and inversion independently, the ChargeMaster Plus is the right choice. Most serious cruising builds use separate units because it gives you better redundancy and lets you size each function for its actual load.

Will it work overseas?

Yes. The 80 to 275 VAC, 35 to 70 Hz input range covers every common shore power standard in the world. Plug into 100V Japanese power, 120V US power, 230V European power, 240V Australian power , same charger, same performance, no transformer or adapter required (you'll still need the right AC plug for the local pedestal).

How does Priority Charge work?

Priority Charge looks at the state of charge across both outputs and automatically routes available current to whichever battery is lower first. This means a deeply discharged bank gets full bulk current immediately while the more-charged bank waits, instead of splitting current evenly when one bank really needs more help. The result is faster overall system recovery after a heavy off-grid stretch.

Does it need active cooling and ventilation?

There's an internal fan, and the charger needs reasonable airflow around the case. Don't bury it in a sealed compartment with no ventilation. The good news is that this charger holds 80% of rated output at 60°C ambient, which is much better than most competing chargers that derate aggressively in the heat , so your install can be in a normally-warm engine room without losing capacity.

What's the difference between MasterBus and CZone?

MasterBus is Mastervolt's proprietary CAN protocol for tying together their power management products. CZone is the broader marine digital switching protocol used by many production boats for circuit and system control. This unit speaks both natively. If your boat is built around CZone digital switching, the charger plugs in seamlessly. If you're building a Mastervolt-centric power system around MasterView displays and MasterShunt monitors, MasterBus does the same thing within the Mastervolt ecosystem.

What's in the box?

The ChargeMaster Plus 24V/110-2 unit, the install manual, mounting hardware. AC and DC cabling are sized to the install and are not included (consult the install manual for AWG sizing recommendations and fuse selection). MasterBus or CZone interface cables are also sized to the install and ordered separately.

What's the warranty?

Standard 2-Year limited Mastervolt warranty. Mastervolt has a strong dealer network and an extended warranty option that some installers offer. Service runs through authorized Mastervolt dealers in the U.S.

Can I parallel two of these for double the output?

Yes, two ChargeMaster Plus units can be paralleled on the same battery bank for combined output, with the units sharing load via MasterBus communication so they work as a coordinated pair rather than fighting each other. This is the right approach for large house banks (1500+ Ah) that need more than 110A bulk current. Consult the Mastervolt install documentation or your dealer for the correct paralleling configuration.
