Marinco 303SSEL-B 30A 125V Power Inlet 316 Stainless Steel

The Marinco 303SSEL-B is the 30-amp shore power inlet for boats wanting the premium stainless steel finish over the typical plastic or chrome-plated brass alternatives. The solid cast 316-grade marine stainless construction is meaningful versus cheaper inlet alternatives in three ways: corrosion resistance over the typical decade-plus boat lifetime, mechanical durability against impact and dock-related wear, and the aesthetic upgrade that matches premium boat exterior styling.

What "30A 125V" means and what it's for. The 303SSEL-B is the 30-amp 125V single-phase shore power configuration - the standard shore power for typical recreational boats up to roughly 35 feet length-overall with moderate electrical loads. 30A at 125V delivers up to 3,750 watts of available shore power - sufficient for the typical recreational boat's AC loads (battery charger, water heater, microwave, refrigerator, AC outlets for personal devices). For boats with bigger electrical loads (residential-grade air conditioning, electric stove, multiple appliances simultaneously), the 50A 125/250V shore power configuration is required - different inlet (Marinco offers 50A inlets in similar stainless designs).

Solid cast 316 stainless steel construction. The body of the inlet is solid cast 316 stainless steel - the marine-grade alloy that contains 2-3% molybdenum (versus 304 stainless which has none). The molybdenum content gives 316 meaningfully better resistance to chloride attack than 304 stainless - meaningful for saltwater service where chloride exposure is constant. 304 stainless on a saltwater boat shows pitting corrosion within a few years. 316 stainless handles decades of saltwater service without significant corrosion. Solid cast (not plated) means the entire body is 316 stainless throughout - cheaper plated inlets can show corrosion after the plating wears through, but the cast 316 has no plating to wear through.

Locking waterproof cap with Soft Touch hinge. The cap is the spring-loaded cover that closes over the contact area when the shore power cord isn't connected. Three meaningful features. One: locking. The cap can be locked closed (typical use case is when the boat is being towed or trailered, preventing the cap from blowing open in transit). Two: waterproof when locked. The cap seals against the inlet body to prevent water intrusion into the contact area - meaningful for boats that see direct water exposure to the inlet location (typical of recreational boats where the inlet is mounted on an exterior bulkhead). Three: Soft Touch hinge. When you open the cap to plug in the shore power cord, the Soft Touch hinge holds the cap in the open / upright position - no need for a third hand to hold the cap up while plugging in. The traditional spring-loaded cap that snaps shut while you're trying to insert the plug is the typical small annoyance that the Soft Touch hinge eliminates.

Easy Lock System. The Easy Lock is Marinco's locking mechanism that secures the shore power cord to the inlet. Insert the cord, twist into the locked position, and the cord can't be pulled out accidentally even under significant load. Useful in two scenarios. One: prevents the boat from being disconnected from shore power if a wave or current pulls on the cord (the locked connection holds against significant force). Two: prevents a casual passerby from disconnecting the cord (whether maliciously or by accident on a busy dock). The Easy Lock requires the deliberate twist motion to disengage - no accidental disconnection.

8-way right-angle rear safety enclosure. The wiring connections on the boat-side of the inlet are enclosed in a right-angle safety enclosure with 8 directions of routing flexibility - lets you route the inlet's wiring in any of 8 directions out of the back of the inlet without requiring a specific orientation. Meaningful for boats where the inlet location's wiring chase enters the inlet area at an unusual angle - the 8-way routing accommodates the actual install geometry rather than requiring the wiring to come from a specific direction. The safety enclosure also protects the connections from accidental contact during maintenance work in the inlet area.

Heavy-duty cap strap. The strap that secures the cap to the inlet body is heavy-duty rated - resists tearing, UV degradation, and the mechanical stress of repeated open / close cycles. Cheaper inlets use thin straps that fail after a few years of use. the 303SSEL-B's heavy-duty strap is engineered for the typical 5-10 year service interval before any maintenance attention is needed.

Single receptacle, 30A 125V. The inlet has a single 30A 125V receptacle - the standard configuration for boats with one shore power circuit. For boats with two separate shore power circuits (typical of larger boats with separate "port-side" and "starboard-side" 30A circuits, or boats with both 30A and 50A inlets), separate inlets handle each circuit. The 303SSEL-B is the single-30A variant.

Indoor or outdoor use. The 303SSEL-B is rated for both indoor and outdoor use - the typical install location is on the boat's exterior bulkhead or transom, but the inlet works equally well on protected exterior locations (under a hardtop, in a covered cockpit area). The waterproof cap and stainless construction handle either install scenario.

Not smart-technology compatible. Some modern marina shore power circuits use "smart" technology that monitors and controls the shore power connection (load monitoring, ground-fault tracking, communication with the marina's shore power infrastructure). The 303SSEL-B is the standard non-smart inlet - works with any standard 30A 125V shore power circuit without smart-technology features. Install. Drill the appropriate-sized hole in the boat's exterior bulkhead or transom for the inlet body. Slide the inlet through the hole with the safety enclosure on the inside. Tighten the inlet's mounting ring from the inside to clamp the inlet against the bulkhead. Connect the boat's AC distribution wiring to the safety enclosure connections (typical: hot, neutral, ground). Verify the connection is dry and weather-sealed before powering up the shore power. Total install time is typically 2-4 hours for a competent boat owner with electrical skills.
