The Lenco 12 by 12 inch Edge Mount Trim Tab Kit with LED Indicator Switch (model 15110-103) is the complete drop-in electric trim tab kit for boats in the 17 to 30 foot range. What Edge Mount means and why you might need it. Standard mount Lenco trim tabs put the actuator at the top edge of the trim tab, which means the actuator sits above the tab when the tab is fully retracted. Edge Mount tabs put the actuator at the trailing edge of the tab (where it meets the water), which means the actuator sits below the tab when the tab is fully retracted. The result: Edge Mount needs 4 inches less transom height above the trim tab than standard mount needs. For boats with low transom (some sportfish, jet boats, and certain center console hull designs), Edge Mount fits where standard mount won't.

The trade-off. Edge Mount actuators are submerged whenever the boat is at rest in the water (the actuator sits below the waterline). Lenco's fully submersible ballscrew actuator design handles this without issue (the actuator is sealed against immersion), so the trade-off is purely about install geometry, not about actuator life. For boats where standard mount would be the obvious first choice but the transom height isn't there, Edge Mount is the answer. For boats with plenty of transom height, standard mount remains the typical default.

The 12 by 12 inch tab size is sized for the 17 to 30 foot boat range. Both length (12 inches) and width (12 inches) are larger than the typical 9 by 9 or 9 by 12 tabs used on smaller boats, which gives more trim authority and better correction at the higher speeds typical of larger boats. For boats over 30 feet, Lenco makes 12 by 18 inch and larger tab kits with the same actuator and switch architecture.

The LED Indicator switch is the helm-control upgrade in this kit (vs. the Double Rocker switch in lower-cost Lenco kits). Per-tab LED columns at the helm show the real-time tab position from fully retracted at the top to fully deployed at the bottom. Glance at the switch and you know exactly where each tab is, instead of having to deploy or retract to confirm. For owners who use trim tabs actively (every plane-up gets bow-down trim, every list gets per-side correction, etc.), the LED indication makes the system much faster to use because you always know your starting position.

The Lenco ballscrew actuator is the design feature that separates these tabs from competing hydraulic-actuated systems. Hydraulic actuators use pressurized fluid in cylinders to move the tab. They leak over time, the cylinders corrode, and replacement parts are expensive. The Lenco ballscrew actuator uses an electric motor driving a precision ballscrew, which is fully sealed against water (rated submersible), has no fluid to leak, and delivers instant response: press the helm switch and the tab moves immediately, no lag for hydraulic pressure to build. Faster response, longer service life, lower maintenance.

The 12-gauge 304 stainless steel trim tab blades are the right specification for the recommended boat-length range. 304 grade stainless gives long-term corrosion resistance in saltwater and freshwater. 12-gauge thickness is rigid enough to resist deflection at planing speeds while staying light enough to keep the actuator load reasonable. The 1-inch turned-up edges along the sides of the tab control water spillover and improve trim authority compared to flat-edged tabs of the same overall dimensions. The 85-degree inside taper at the leading edge of the tab improves water flow attachment to the tab surface for cleaner force generation.

The plug-and-play Deutsch connectors are the install convenience that makes this a real one-day install. Each actuator comes pre-attached to its 6-foot lead with the Deutsch connector already on the end. The 20-foot extension harnesses also have Deutsch connectors on both ends, so you can extend the actuator runs without cutting wires or crimping. The control box has matching Deutsch connectors. Plug, click, done. The connectors are also fully reversible, so if you need to remove an actuator for service later, just unplug it.

The 20-foot extension harnesses are the install feature that sets this kit apart from the basic 6-foot-only kits. For boats with the actuators at the transom and the control box mounted forward in a dry storage compartment (the typical install geometry on larger boats), the 6-foot pre-attached lead alone wouldn't reach. Installation. Pick the tab mounting location on the transom (consult the install instructions for proper placement, typically on the bottom edge of the transom about a third of the way in from each chine). Bolt the tab to the transom with the included 5/16-inch stainless steel bolts and the supplied backing plates inside the transom. Mount the Edge Mount actuators at the trailing edge of each tab and bolt to the underside of the tab. Plug the actuator leads into the 20-foot extension harnesses, route the harnesses to the control box location, and plug into the control box. Mount the control box in a dry area below deck. Run the LED Indicator switch wires forward to the dash and mount the switch. Connect 12V power. Total install time for an experienced installer is about 5 to 7 hours.
