Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 Live + T/M Transducer + C-MAP Inland — Product description

The Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 Live is the most affordable live-sonar fishfinder Lowrance makes. 9-inch IPS display, four sonar views from a single transducer (Live Forward, Live Down, CHIRP, and DownScan with FishReveal), preloaded C-MAP inland charts covering 17,000+ US and Canadian lakes, and Genesis Live for custom contour mapping. Live sonar without the cost of a separate ActiveTarget transducer and module.

The Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 Live is the most accessible live-sonar fishfinder in the Lowrance lineup. It's the unit that brings ActiveTarget-class live sonar imagery to anglers who don't want to spend ActiveTarget money. Where ActiveTarget 2 requires a separate transducer and a separate sonar module to drive a compatible HDS or Elite FS display, the Eagle Eye 9 Live builds the live sonar engine directly into the unit and pairs with a single transom-mount transducer that handles all four sonar views together. You get the live forward and down imagery that has reshaped freshwater fishing, plus the traditional CHIRP and DownScan you'd expect, in one box at one price.

The four sonar views from a single transducer are the design differentiator. Live Forward shows you a live video feed of what's in front of the boat in real time, including fish moving toward your bait and brush piles or structure ahead of where you're going. Live Down points the live cone straight down for a real-time view of what's directly beneath you. CHIRP sonar handles the traditional 2D scrolling history view that anglers have used for decades for finding fish in the water column. DownScan Imaging gives you the photo-quality straight-down structure view that shows wrecks, brush, and bottom contour clearly. FishReveal overlays the CHIRP fish targets onto the DownScan image, so you stop guessing which arches matter and which are clutter.

Eagle Eye live sonar resolution is the same best-in-class quality as ActiveTarget 2, but the cone shape is more focused (narrower) than ActiveTarget's wider field. For most freshwater anglers casting to specific structure, the focused cone is the right trade-off because it gives you sharper detail on whatever you're aimed at. For tournament-grade live sonar work where you want to scan a wider area quickly, ActiveTarget 2 with the wider Scout view is still the right choice. For 95 percent of recreational and serious-amateur freshwater fishing, Eagle Eye is enough live sonar.

The 9-inch IPS display is the right size for most boats from 14 to 22 feet that don't need a 12 or 16-inch glass-bridge install. IPS panel technology gives you wide viewing angles and stays readable through polarized sunglasses, which is the failure mode of cheaper non-IPS displays. Brightness is sun-readable for direct outdoor use.

Charts. Preloaded C-MAP inland charts for the US and Canada cover 17,000+ lakes with detailed bathymetry, points of interest, and navigation features. The chart card is integrated into the unit, no SD card required for the base maps. The SD card slot accepts additional cartography (premium C-MAP charts, Navionics, others) if you fish water that isn't well covered by the base maps, plus it handles software updates and Genesis Live recording.

Genesis Live is the personal-cartography feature that lets you build half-foot contour maps of any water you fish by simply running the unit while you're on the water. The sonar feeds depth data to the Genesis Live recorder and the unit builds a custom contour overlay you can navigate by. For lakes without good commercial cartography, this is the feature that maps them. SD card storage extends the recording capacity beyond the unit's built-in memory.

Autotuning sonar means you don't fight the menus to get clean imagery. Power on, drop the transducer, and the unit looks at the water you're in and tunes sensitivity, gain, surface clarity, and ping speed automatically. Manual override is in the menu if you want it, but most owners find that the autotune is excellent and they leave it alone.

The transom-mount transducer ships in the box. T/M means transom mount, which is the configuration most boaters use. Mount it on the transom in clean water flow, parallel to the running waterline with a slight downward angle, and it delivers all four sonar views from one position. The included Eagle power cable handles the unit's 12V DC power needs with the standard Lowrance twist-lock connector.

The new twist-lock connector system across the recent Lowrance line is meaningful. The transducer cable, the power cable, and the unit all use the same locking connector pattern. A quarter turn locks each connection in place, and the locks are tight enough that vibration on a small skiff doesn't loosen them. When you want to pull the unit off the boat for storage or to take it home for the winter, a quarter turn the other way and it's off.

Color palettes. The Eagle Eye 9 Live ships with a refreshed set of imaging color palettes that increase contrast and viewability over the older Lowrance palette options. Different water conditions and different fish species show up best in different palettes. Try them all on your local water and pick what works.

What this unit is and isn't. It is a complete fishfinder with live sonar, traditional sonar, and chartplotter capability for freshwater anglers running boats up to about 22 feet. It is not a glass-bridge offshore MFD (look at HDS or Elite FS for that), it does not have radar or AIS integration, and it doesn't have the network-multi-display capability of the higher-end Lowrance lines. For its target audience (freshwater anglers who want live sonar without breaking the bank), it's exactly the right amount of capability.

What's in the box. The Eagle Eye 9 Live display, the all-in-one transom transducer with twist-lock connector, the Eagle power cable (PN 000-16314-001), the mounting bracket and hardware, and the install guide. 1-year limited Lowrance warranty. Same-day shipping before 3 PM ET on in-stock units.

Frequently asked questions

What's actually in the box?

The Eagle Eye 9 Live display, the all-in-one transom-mount transducer with the standard Lowrance twist-lock connector, the Eagle power cable (PN 000-16314-001), the mounting bracket and hardware, and the install guide. The unit is a complete kit ready to install on the boat.

What's the difference between Eagle Eye Live and ActiveTarget 2?

Two things. Cost: Eagle Eye Live builds the live sonar engine into the unit and uses a single transducer that handles all four sonar views, which saves you several hundred to over a thousand dollars compared to building an ActiveTarget 2 setup with a separate transducer plus the GLS 10 module plus a compatible HDS or Elite FS display. Cone shape: Eagle Eye's live sonar cone is more focused (narrower) than ActiveTarget 2's wider field. For most freshwater fishing, the focused cone is the right trade-off because it gives you sharper detail on what you're aimed at. For tournament-grade work where you want to scan a wider area quickly, ActiveTarget 2 is still the right pick.

Does it really have live sonar without an extra module?

Yes. The live sonar processing is built into the Eagle Eye 9 Live unit itself, and the included T/M transducer handles all four sonar views from a single mount position. No separate sonar module to buy or wire. This is the cost-saving design that makes Eagle Eye accessible compared to the older multi-component live sonar setups.

What charts come preloaded?

C-MAP embedded inland charts for the US and Canada, covering 17,000+ lakes with detailed bathymetry, navigation features, and points of interest. The base chart is integrated into the unit, no SD card needed. You can supplement with additional cartography on the SD card slot if you fish water not well covered.

What's Genesis Live?

Genesis Live builds a custom 1/2-foot contour map of any water you fish, in real time, as you idle around. The sonar feeds depth data to the Genesis Live recorder on the SD card and the unit builds a contour overlay you can navigate by. For lakes without good commercial cartography or for finding subtle bottom features that aren't on the base chart, this is the feature that maps them.

What's FishReveal?

FishReveal overlays CHIRP fish targets onto the DownScan structure image. Instead of looking at two separate split-screen panels and trying to figure out which CHIRP arches correspond to which DownScan structure, FishReveal puts the fish marks directly on the structure view in a different color so you can identify exactly which fish are holding on which piece of structure.

Where should I mount the transducer?

On the transom in clean water flow, parallel to the boat's running waterline (not the static-at-rest waterline), with a slight downward angle to keep the cone clean at speed. Avoid mounting behind hull strakes, the prop, or any other water disturber. The included install instructions and template walk you through the right placement on a typical boat.

What size boat is this fishfinder right for?

Boats from about 14 to 22 feet, including bass boats, walleye boats, and small bay boats. The 9-inch screen fits most helms in that size range without dominating the dash. For smaller boats or kayaks, the smaller Eagle 4x or 5 are more appropriate. For bigger boats with serious-fishing helms, the HDS or Elite FS line gives you more screen and more features.

Does it support networking with other Lowrance units?

No. The Eagle Eye 9 Live is a standalone unit with no Ethernet networking. If you want to share sonar, charts, and waypoints across multiple displays, look at the Elite FS or HDS line. For the Eagle Eye target audience (freshwater fishfinder on a single-display boat), standalone is what makes sense.

Will it work in saltwater?

Yes, the unit is rated for marine use and the housing handles salt spray. C-MAP coastal coverage is in the chart subscription for the included inland chart card depending on the model year (verify against your specific unit). For dedicated saltwater fishing, the Elite FS series with stronger CHIRP power and better coastal chart options is a better fit, but Eagle Eye 9 Live works for casual saltwater inshore use.

What's the autotuning sonar do?

The unit looks at the water you're in and the bottom you're seeing, then sets sensitivity, gain, surface clarity, and ping speed automatically. You don't need to know what those settings do or how to tune them. Power on, drop the transducer, and you've got usable sonar within seconds. Manual override is in the menu if you want to fine-tune.

What's the warranty?

1-year limited Lowrance warranty on the unit and accessories. Service runs through the Lowrance authorized dealer network in the U.S.
