The 80 lb thrust is the upgrade over the PowerDrive 70. Doesn't sound like a huge difference on paper, but on the water with two anglers, gear, wind, and current, the extra 10 pounds of push translates to genuine real headroom for holding position in tougher conditions. Bigger boats (20 to 22 feet) and boats fishing real wind benefit most. For lighter boats or calmer water, the PowerDrive 70 is still enough motor. For anglers running serious saltwater patterns, the Terrova 80 is the right tool.

The included Heading Sensor is the feature that enables Spot-Lock Jog and improves Spot-Lock holding accuracy. Heading Sensor is an electronic compass mounted in the motor head that gives the GPS system real-time heading data, which lets the motor more aggressively counter wind and current to hold the locked position. Without a Heading Sensor, Spot-Lock works but drifts more in conditions. With one, the lock is tight. The Terrova 80 ships with the Heading Sensor included, which is a meaningful spec advantage over the PowerDrive line where the Heading Sensor is sold separately.

Spot-Lock Jog is the small but excellent feature that the Heading Sensor enables. Once you've locked a position, you can jog the lock five feet in any direction with the wireless remote. Find a wreck or reef edge that's just off your initial lock and you can slide right onto it without breaking and rebuilding the lock. Five feet at a time, four cardinal directions.

AutoPilot keeps a heading hands-free with continuous compensation for wind and current. Point the motor where you want to go, hit AutoPilot, and the motor steers itself on the heading until you stop it. For straight-line trolling along a contour or a shoreline, AutoPilot frees you up to fish.

Mobile app compatibility. The Terrova pairs with the Minn Kota mobile app on iOS and Android, giving you a soft control surface on your phone for speed, steering, Spot-Lock, and AutoPilot. The app also handles software updates over wireless. For anglers who want to control the motor from the back of the boat or from a different seat than where the wireless remote lives, the app is a useful second control option.

The Weedless Wedge 2 prop (MKP-33) is the upgraded prop on the Terrova line. Swept-back flared blade design that bites through weed and grass without the constant chopping and binding that conventional props suffer through in milfoil, hydrilla, and matted vegetation. For anglers who fish grass-heavy water (which is most inshore saltwater patterns and many freshwater bass setups), the Weedless Wedge 2 is genuinely better than the standard Power Prop on the PowerDrive line.
