Humminbird HELIX ICE Conversion Kit - MEGA Live
Humminbird HELIX ICE Conversion Kit - MEGA Live — Product description
The Humminbird HELIX ICE Conversion Kit with MEGA Live converts your HELIX 8, 9, or 10 G3N/G4N (with MEGA Imaging) from a summer boat fishfinder into a full ice fishing system. MEGA Live transducer for real-time live sonar through the hole, Dual Spectrum CHIRP ICE transducer for traditional 2D, premium shuttle, multi-piece pole, 20Ah lithium battery with charger, and all the cabling and hardware. Pull the HELIX off the boat in winter and run it on the ice.
The Humminbird HELIX ICE Conversion Kit with MEGA Live is the kit that turns your boat HELIX into a real ice fishing rig. If you've already invested in a HELIX 8, 9, or 10 G3N or G4N with MEGA Imaging on the boat, this kit gives you everything you need to use the same display through the hole in winter. MEGA Live for real-time fish-watching, Dual Spectrum CHIRP for traditional ice 2D, a premium shuttle to carry it all, the multi-piece pole, and a 20-amp-hour lithium battery to power the whole rig for a full day on the ice.
What MEGA Live brings to ice fishing is genuinely transformative. The transducer drops through the hole and gives you live video of the water column, your bait position, and any fish that come to investigate. You watch a fish move toward your jig, you see how it reacts, you adjust the jig action in real time, you watch the strike develop. It's the difference between blind fishing with traditional flasher-style sonar and actually seeing what's happening below you. Once you've fished with MEGA Live through the ice, going back to flasher-only feels like fishing with the lights off.
The Dual Spectrum CHIRP ICE transducer in the kit is the second sonar option that fishes alongside MEGA Live. It runs traditional 2D sonar with 3/4-inch target separation and CHIRP Interference Rejection, which is the working ice sonar most anglers used for years before live sonar came along. Some ice setups are easier to read on traditional 2D, especially for finesse fishing where you want a clear vertical column readout instead of the dynamic MEGA Live view. The kit gives you both. Switch between them on the HELIX or split-screen them.
The premium shuttle is the carry-and-mount unit. Master power switch on the front, two USB ports for charging your phone or other accessories, quick-connect SAE power cables that disconnect cleanly between trips, and a large handle for hauling the rig from the truck out to your spot. Multiple quarter-inch-twenty mounting points on the shuttle let you attach rod holders, accessory mounts, GPS heads, or other gear with standard photography-grade mounting hardware. Two integrated rod holders come with the unit. The battery sits inside the shuttle under a hinged cover. Cable and transducer management is built into the shuttle so the whole rig stays organized when you're moving from hole to hole.
The multi-piece pole breaks down into three sections for varying ice depths. On a 12-inch ice cover with 8 feet of water under it, run all three sections. On thinner ice or shallower water, run two or one. The compact stored length matters when you're trying to fit the whole kit in a sled or in the back of an SUV.
Power. The included 20-amp-hour lithium battery is sized for a full day of ice fishing with the HELIX running both sonars active. Lithium chemistry is the right call for cold-weather use because lithium handles freezing temperatures much better than the AGM and SLA batteries that older ice flasher rigs ran on. The battery has two USB ports for charging your phone or other accessories from the same battery, plus a built-in battery life indicator so you know your charge state at a glance. The charger ships in the kit. Plan an overnight charge between trips.
Compatibility check. This conversion kit works with HELIX 8, HELIX 9, and HELIX 10 in the G3N or G4N generations, but only the variants that have MEGA Imaging built in. If your HELIX is non-MEGA (DI or SI without the Plus designation in the name), the kit will not properly drive the MEGA Live transducer because the underlying HELIX hardware doesn't have MEGA processing. Confirm your HELIX model and the MEGA Imaging capability before ordering. The model is printed on a sticker on the back of the unit.
The kit is for HELIX displays specifically. It does not include a HELIX display, because the assumption is that you already own one for boat use and you want to share it with the ice setup. If you don't yet have a HELIX, you'll buy the display separately as a complete unit (and then you can use this conversion kit to take it ice fishing in winter).
Setup. Pull the HELIX off the boat at end of season, mount it to the shuttle using the included MEGA Live ICE Adapter Kit hardware, connect the SAE power cables to the lithium battery, and connect the transducers. Drop the MEGA Live and Dual Spectrum CHIRP ICE transducers down the hole and the kit is fishing. The first install takes 30 to 60 minutes. After that, switching between boat and ice configurations is a few minutes.
What's in the box. MEGA Live transducer, MEGA Live ICE Adapter Kit (the cabling and mounting hardware to connect MEGA Live to the HELIX), Dual Spectrum CHIRP ICE transducer, the multi-piece pole, the premium shuttle with integrated rod holders and battery compartment, the 20Ah lithium battery with two USB ports and battery life indicator, the lithium battery charger, the quick-connect SAE power cables, install hardware, and the documentation pack.

Frequently asked questions
What's actually in the box?
The MEGA Live transducer, the MEGA Live ICE Adapter Kit (cabling and hardware to connect MEGA Live to the HELIX), the Dual Spectrum CHIRP ICE transducer, the multi-piece pole, the premium shuttle with integrated rod holders, the 20Ah lithium battery with USB ports and life indicator, the lithium battery charger, the quick-connect SAE power cables, install hardware, and the documentation pack. The HELIX display itself is not included.
Will this kit work with my HELIX?
It works with HELIX 8, HELIX 9, and HELIX 10 in the G3N or G4N generations that have MEGA Imaging built in. It will not work with non-MEGA HELIX models (the DI or SI variants without MEGA in the name) because they don't have the MEGA processing required to drive MEGA Live. Confirm your HELIX model on the back-panel sticker before ordering.
Why does MEGA Live matter for ice fishing?
MEGA Live shows you real-time video of the water column, your bait, and any fish around it through the ice. You watch a fish move toward your jig, see how it reacts, adjust the jig action in real time, and watch the strike develop. It's the difference between blind fishing with traditional flasher sonar and actually seeing what's happening below you. Once you've fished with MEGA Live through the ice, going back to flasher-only feels like fishing with the lights off.
Why does the kit include both MEGA Live AND a CHIRP transducer?
They serve different purposes. MEGA Live is the live-imaging real-time view, best for active fish watching and bait presentation. Dual Spectrum CHIRP is the traditional 2D sonar with column readout, which some ice anglers prefer for finesse fishing where the static vertical view is easier to read than the dynamic live view. The kit gives you both. Switch between them on the HELIX or split-screen them depending on the situation.
How long does the 20Ah lithium battery last?
For a typical day of HELIX operation with both sonars active, the 20Ah battery lasts a full day on the ice. Pure HELIX-only without active live-sonar would last considerably longer. Real-world battery life depends on temperature (lithium handles cold well but isn't immune to it) and how aggressively you use the live sonar feature. Plan to recharge overnight between trips with the included charger.
Why lithium instead of an AGM or SLA battery?
Lithium chemistry handles freezing temperatures much better than AGM or sealed lead-acid. The older flasher-rig batteries (typically 7Ah or 12Ah SLA) lost meaningful capacity below 20F and could be unreliable in deep cold. The 20Ah lithium in this kit holds capacity through ice-fishing temperatures and weighs significantly less than an equivalent SLA. The two USB ports for charging accessories from the same battery are a nice bonus.
Do I need to buy a separate HELIX display?
The kit assumes you already own a HELIX 8, 9, or 10 G3N/G4N MEGA-equipped display for boat use, and that you want to share it with the ice setup. The kit doesn't include a HELIX. If you don't yet have a HELIX, buy the display separately and then use this conversion kit to take it ice fishing in winter.
How long does it take to switch between boat and ice configurations?
First install takes 30 to 60 minutes to mount the HELIX to the shuttle, route the cables, and configure the unit. After the first install, switching between boat and ice setups is a few minutes: pop the HELIX off the boat mount, snap it into the shuttle mount, plug in the SAE power and the transducer cables. End of ice season, do the reverse to put the HELIX back on the boat.
What's the multi-piece pole for?
It supports the MEGA Live and Dual Spectrum CHIRP transducers down through the ice hole, holding them at the right depth in the water column. The pole breaks into three sections so you can configure the deployed length for the ice thickness and water depth you're fishing. Three sections fully extended for thick ice or deep water, fewer sections for shallower or thinner conditions. Compact stored length fits in a sled or the back of an SUV.
What does the premium shuttle do?
It's the carry-and-mount unit that holds the HELIX, the battery, the rod holders, and the cable management. Master power switch on the front controls everything. Two USB ports let you charge your phone or other accessories from the same battery. Multiple quarter-inch-twenty mount points let you attach photography-grade accessory mounts. The large handle makes hauling the kit from the truck out to your spot a one-handed job.
Is it heavy?
The kit ships at about 8.6 pounds, but most of that weight is the battery and the shuttle. With the HELIX added (which is about 5 to 8 pounds depending on screen size) and the ice transducers in place, the complete on-the-ice rig is around 18 to 25 pounds. The integrated handle and shuttle ergonomics make it manageable for one person.
What's the warranty?
2-year limited Humminbird warranty on the conversion kit components (transducers, shuttle, battery, charger). Service runs through the Humminbird authorized service network in the U.S.
